the vocalist and lyricist in the company of longtime pianist Laurence Hobgood, saxophonist Bob Mintzer,
guitarist John McLean, bassist John Patitucci, and drummers Terreon Gulley and Kobie Watkins, with Lenny Castro on percussion. The material
3-CD set. The Clef & Norgran Studio Albums, a 45-track set that’s the first-ever collection of Stan Getz’s earliest recordings for Norman Granz.
Incredible two-thirds of this collection have never been on CD. In 1952, Stan Getz was a young jazz cat on the rise, noticed for his cool, inventive
playing, what fans called ‘The Sound’, and was signed to Norman Granz’s growing roster of class artists, releasing 78-rpm singles and 10-inch LPs
on the Clef and Norgran labels (precursors to Verve Records). What this collection does is present the recordings in their original 10-inch LP form
and adds the singles not on the LPs and other bonus material from the sessions. [Item Code: 66458 3-CD: $60.00]
(Collective Personnel: Red Nichols, Jimmy Dorsey, Jimmy McPartland, Glenn Miller, Mike Mosiello, Nick
Farrara, Ray Bauduc, Sylvester Ahola, Irving Kaufman, Fud Livingston, more) [1926-1928] Despite a music
career that spanned more than 50 years, surprisingly little is known about bandleader, Joe Candullo. He was
a regular on network radio, and he made more than 100 issued recordings. While the majority of his discs
were released, from 1926 to 1929, Candullo was still in the studio, as late as 1954 (and possibly later). He
was leading a popular orchestra at the Everglades, a restaurant on 46th Street and Broadway, in New York
City. It was with this band that Candullo made his first recordings, on February 23, 1926. By April 1927, Joe
Candullo and His Everglades Orchestra were making their first radio broadcasts over WMCA, in New York.
