82582 MATIJA DEDIC M.D. IN N.Y.C. Her Name • Slawenskaya • Update • Maiden Voyage • Angst
• Blue In Green • Cheekee Chicks • Fragile • Jungle Blues • If I Were A Boy (Personnel: Vicente Archer,
Kendrick Scott) [2009] From the first note on this recording, Matija Dedic captivates with musicality and
maturity as a pianist and composer. His treatment of jazz classics such as ‘Blue and Green’ and ‘Maiden Voyage,’
as well as his rendition of Sting’s ‘Fragile,’ are performed with calm and confidence while maintaining a
beautiful touch on both the acoustic piano and Fender Rhodes. Son of the famous Croatian singer-songwriter
and poet Arsen Dedic, and pop singer Gabi Novak, Matija is a star in his own right in the Eastern European
jazz scene where he has won numerous awards over the last decade. [Item Code: 66231 CD: $16.00]
82583 Q.E.D. YET WHAT IS ANY OCEAN... A Multiplicity Of Drops • Lilies From The Escritoire •
Put The Ball In The Box • Tangent 5 • Soft Lights • Poza Azul • Prize And Battlefield • Waltz • Day One
(Personnel: Ben Thomas, Chris Stover, Alex Chadsey) [2010] Q.E.D. is a unique and adventurous trio of
multi-instrumentalists and composers who create music that simultaneously challenges the intellect while
inviting the soul to dance. Ben Thomas, Chris Stover and Alex Chadsey share an intense passion for the
music they perform together. With a broad instrumental palette, including trombone, vibraphone, piano,
bandone¢n, caj¢n, and congas, they’re able to navigate through a wide range of rhythms and textures while drawing on eclectic influences such as
American jazz, 20th century chamber music, and traditional and popular music from Cuba, Brazil, Peru, and
Argentina, crafting a sound that is fresh and contemporary while rooted in some of the world’s great music
traditions. [Item Code: 66232 CD: $16.00]
82584 CHAD MCCULLOUGH BRAM WEIJTERS IMAGINARY SKETCHES Imaginary Folk Song • Burning
Question • Is That It? • Free As Poetry • Another Dark Ballad • Restless • Speeding • Late Night, Long Drive
(Personnel: Bram Weijters, Chuck Deardorf, John Bishop) [2010] Building on several international collaborations,
Seattle trumpeter Chad McCullough and Antwerp-based pianist Bram Weijter document the unique
blend of their compositional and performance styles. From the near stand-still tempo of Weijters’ “Another
Dark Ballad,” to the spiraling search of “Imaginary Folk Song,” to the burning, and aptly titled, “Speeding,”
the musical chemistry is constantly twisting and turning. McCullough’s warm lyricism has a great counterpart
in Weijters’ subtlety and drive, and here, with drummer John Bishop and bassist Chuck Deardorf, the group
is captured in a mood-inducing set of music that is uniquely their own. [Item Code: 66377 CD: $16.00]
82585 CUONG VU 4-TET LEAPS OF FAITH Body and Soul • All The Things You Are • My Funny
Valentine • Leaps of Faith • Child-Like • Something • I Shall Never Come Back • My Opening Farewell
(Personnel: Ted Poor , Stomu Takeishi, Luke Bergman) [2010] After a decade of recordings featuring only
his original compositions, the master trumpeter and his band now turn their attention to the standard jazz repertoire, presenting decidely unique
interpretations of classics such as Body & Soul and My Funny Valentine, along with songs by George Harrison and Jackson Browne. Though only
two electric basses, drums and trumpet, the group displays a staggering wealth of textural variety to compliment their visionary improvisational
explorations. [Item Code: 66378 CD: $16.00]
