Anschell & David Lange) [2009-2010] This album, ‘In Your Own Backyard’ documents the wealth of
vocal talent Nick Anderson has been bringing to his Seattle-area house concerts for the last several years,
and the new musical partnerships he’s created between the mainly out-of-region vocalists and their mainly
in-region accompanists. With Jo Lawry, John Proulx, Cathy Segal-Garcia, & Patti Wicks among many others,
this recording reflects what can be heard from the concert series - total spontaneity with no written music,
arrangements, or after-the-fact fixes; just pure music-making from some of the nation’s great interpreters of
song. [Item Code: 66225 CD: $16.00]
22078 TODD DELGIUDICE PENCIL SKETCHES Quackenbush And Piepgrass • Mint Tea • New Leaf
Goodbye (Personnel: John Hansen, Jon Hamar, Byron Vannoy) [2010] With an eclectic mix of nine originals
and one thoroughly re-envisioned standard, saxophonist and multi-reedist Todd DelGiudice presents an
inspired set for his first recording on OA2 Records. Joined by a veteran Seattle trio including John Hansen on
piano, bassist Jon Hamar and drummer Byron Vannoy, DelGiudice explores his wide-ranging musical influences,
creating a unique & varied yet fully cohesive story. Raised in South Florida, DelGiudice has been an
active member of the Miami, New York and Oregon jazz scenes. He was a member of one of Red Rodney’s
last working quintets and has performed with Maria Schneider, John Fedchock, and Ingrid Jensen, among many others.
22079 RICH PELLEGRIN THREE-PART ODYSSEY PART I: Nothing Comes to Mind • Distant, Distorted,
You • Obtusity •• PART II: Breathe • Pastiche • Piano Phase •• PART III: Marruecos • Maze (Personnel:
R. Scott Morning, Neil Welch, Evan Flory-Barnes, Chris Icasiano) [2010] While organizing his debut recording
for OA2 Records, pianist Rich Pellegrin had specific ideas for his accompaning musicians and their
approach to his musical concepts. Wanting artists who were drawn to density, complexity, and virtuosity,
but who were equally fascinated by simplicity, repetition, and groove, he created a collaborative environment
with powerful personalities who would each bring a different perspective to the ensemble, ensuring
that the band would never become too comfortable. With great dynamic tension and eclectic sensibilities,
the Seattle-based band creates an album of cohesive, forward-looking original music. [Item Code: 66376
31990 JOE PASS VIRTUOSO Night And Day • Stella By Starlight • Here’s That Rainy Day • My Old
Flame • How High The Moon • Cherokee • Sweet Lorraine • Have You Met Miss Jones? • ‘Round Midnight • All The Things You Are • Blues For
Alican • The Song Is You [1973] This is the album that made Joe Pass famous. On what was actually his second set of unaccompanied guitar
solos (Virtuoso No. 4 from a month earlier was released years later), Pass shows that it is possible to play unaccompanied versions of such up-tempo
tunes as ‘How High the Moon,’ ‘Cherokee,’ and ‘The Song Is You’ on guitar. Pass not only performs the melodies and heated solos, but provides
bass lines and harmonies while using a conventional technique (unlike Stanley Jordan’s later tapping). Pass
would record many unaccompanied recordings and perform at numerous solo concerts during the next 20
years; this is the set that started it all, and it is a certified classic. [Item Code: 27674 CD: $13.00]
• I’m Putting Me First • Black Hole Sun • Revelations • The Beautiful Ones (Personnel: Andy Langham,
Andrew Synowiec, Edwin Livingston, Dan Schnelle) [2009] Los Angeles saxophonist Tom Luer’s ‘Project
the now classic compositions for a modern jazz ensemble. Along with several originals, the band tackles
‘Jeremy’ from Pearl Jam, ‘Black Hole Sun’ from Soundgarden and Prince’s ‘The Beautiful Ones,’ among others.
interactive recording while retaining the visceral power of the compositions that led to their popularity.
