Failure to do so will result in cancellation of your registration. If your financial aid does not cover your entire tuition and fees, you must settle the remaining balance by the close of business on the payment deadline. Third Party Voucher You must submit a voucher or an official letter from your employer or union to the Office of the Bursar (MB-55) by the close of business on the payment deadline. Then her life in the fast lane came to a screeching halt when she was sentenced to two years in prison for a felony conviction, during which time her second child, Jacob, now six, was born. Upon her release, Hour Children, a Long Island City-based organization that provides housing and other services to formerly incarcerated women and their families, gave her support – the same support that she now strives to afford to others. “It’s hard to make a change in your life while you don’t change your routine and environment,” says Amy. “Getting educated was my only way out.” After one last failed attempt at college in 2006, Amy is finally walking in LaGuardia’s commencement ceremony this September. “ So much of what I’ve learned I’m applying directly to my work every day,” she says about her education at LaGuardia. “I felt so at home in my classes at LaGuardia; I’m sad to go, but I won’t leave LaGuardia completely before leaving my mark.” With the help of a $10,000 scholarship from the Women’s Forum, Amy will attend Lehman College to earn her Bachelor’s degree and pursue her dream of becoming a mental health educator.
