MP’s marathon
effort for charity
WEAVER Vale MP
Graham Evans completed
the London Marathon in
four hours 49 minutes -
raising more than £900
for Halton Haven Hospice
and the Royal British
Legion.
It took him two minutes
and 45 seconds longer
than last year, but the MP
was not too disappointed.
He said: “It was a
shame not to beat last
year’s time but I am a year
older, so I suppose two
minutes and 45 seconds
longer isn’t too bad!”
Mr Evans admitted
to being “absolutely
knackered” after the run.
But he added: “It was
great to see so many
people out on the streets
showing their support for
the thousands of people
who were running to raise
money for charity. In the
wake of the tragedy in
Boston, it was particularly
poignant.
“I’m really pleased to
have raised so much money
and I’m very grateful for
the many constituents who
generously sponsored me
and sent me messages of
support.”
