Problem
Operating the
Commander simply
causes it to output an
error beep and does not
allow you to control the
HF transceiver.
You cannot hear audio
received by the HF
transceiver.
You cannot
superimpose
information onto the
VC-H1 monitor.
You cannot program
the VC-H1 with a SSTV
mode.
Probable
Cause
1 Too large distance between the
Commander and Transporter
prevents correct data
communications.
2 Bad radio wave conditions prevent
control commands from being
correctly transmitted.
You switched ON the CTCSS on the
144 MHz band of the Commander.
You failed to correctly enter
information to be superimposed.
Bad
cable connections.
Corrective
Action
1 Operate the Commander within a
distance that allows the two
transceivers to show a full-scale
S-meter reading.

Use Menu 3–1 to 3–6 to correctly enter
the desired information.
Refer to the instruction manual for the
VC-H1 and correctly connect the VC-H1
to the transceiver.
Note: When two received frequencies have relationships per the equation below or other similar relationships, an internal heterodyne may be heard.
