HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is the interface for the digital
transmission of audio and video data in the field of consumer electronics. The
HDMI standard is intended for the copper cable connection for up to a maximum
length of 15 m. However, there are HDMI copper cables obtainable with
lengths of 20 m but these do not operate smoothly in all cases.
The HDMI extender is mainly applied in the entertainment sector for the
connection of LCD or plasma displays with HDMI input. By the application of
multimode fiber optics distances of up to 200 m are feasible for video and audio
transmission. Four parallel fibers are required for the applications which are
operated in one direction (uni-directional).
The device is available for the connection to multimode fiber optics with a
standard LC connector. The delivery package consists of a transmitter and a
receiver as well as the corresponding external power supply units.
