SlimFlange
GPS SlimFlange is a unique patented
stainless steel reinforced PE flange adaptor.
The reinforcement at the flange face means
that the backing ring bolting diameter can
be reduced by a step when compared to
conventional PE flanges. There is therefore
no requirement to upsize pumps and valves
connected to the SlimFlange, leading to
considerable whole system cost savings.
Size-for-size capability is not accompanied
by any temporary PE bore reduction which
would weaken the fitting and increase the
potential for blockage – SlimFlange has the
same nominal bore and bolting circle as
normal PN16 metal flanges, resulting in
cost savings in backing rings when
compared to traditional PE flanges.
The compact and strong design of
SlimFlange results in significantly reduced
weight and also provides for enhanced
gasket sealing performance.
SlimFlange is a fully end-load bearing
fitting in SDR17/17.6 form and, under
tensile loading, the pipe will yield before
the SlimFlange.
No thrust blocks or de-rating of the
system is required.

Approvals
GPS SlimFlange* is manufactured and
tested in accordance with the following
specifications:
Gas Industry specification:
Transco T/SP/PL2:Part 6 and Transco
T/SP/PL3 for SDR17.6 sizes up to and
including 355mm x 300mm.
Water Industry specification:
WIS 4.24.01 and WIS 4.32.15.

The SlimFlange has the same size bore as a
traditional PE flange but has a smaller backing
ring bolting diameter.
A 250mm SlimFlange connects 250mm OD
PE pipe directly to a 200mm ID PN16 valve;
a traditional 250mm PE flange requires a 250mm
ID PN16 valve for bolting to match.
The SlimFlange offers no restriction in bore –
unlike the PE combination reduced flange.
