Freshman Guide Living at UCSC Residence Hall Living Merrill College has four residential buildings set amidst redwood trees and a central lawn. Most students live in coed halls or floors, in which members of all genders live in the same hall or floor, while bedrooms are singlegender spaces. Single-gender female floors are also available. Renovations will be taking place at Merrill College during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 academic years. Students living at Merrill in fall 2013 will be the first to enjoy the renovated rooms with new carpet, paint, windows and lighting. Renovation work will be structured so that residences will remain open and in use during the academic year.
