Chapter 2: Gap Analysis, Geographic Impediments and Alternatives Analysis Scoring In the evaluation matrix, a score was assigned to segments 2, 4 and 5 to reflect how well each alternative met the criterion. Segment 2 had two alternative options (trail and bike lanes). The higher the score, the better suited the alignment to meet the multiple goals of the trail. The two alignments with no alternatives become the proposed alignments for those segments. The Cost category had additional weight applied, as cost is a major factor in the feasibility of planning, constructing and maintaining trails. The Safety category also received additional weight primarily because of the goal to provide a multi-use path for users of all abilities.
