The ABC capped its 2011-<strong>2012</strong><br />

racing season with its annual<br />

prize-giving dinner and drinks in<br />

<strong>the</strong> Main <strong>Club</strong>house’s Harbour Room on<br />

19 May. ABC Commodore John Berry<br />

welcomed some 60 dinner attendees,<br />

both ABC members and guests from<br />

fellow clubs.<br />

Rear Commodore Bruce Perkins,<br />

chairman of <strong>the</strong> ABC Sailing and Marine<br />

Committee, thanked members of <strong>the</strong><br />

Sailing Committee for organising <strong>the</strong><br />

2011-<strong>2012</strong> sailing programme. He also<br />

thanked Jebsen Marine for sponsoring<br />

<strong>the</strong> Waglan race and Fine Vintage for<br />

sponsoring <strong>the</strong> 2011 summer series.<br />

Sail Committee Chair Perkins went on<br />

to thank ABC General Manager Philippe<br />

de Manny for his support as Race Officer<br />

throughout <strong>the</strong> Waglan series, and also<br />

acknowledged and thanked <strong>the</strong> ABC’s<br />

marine staff for laying buoys and manning<br />

<strong>the</strong> committee boats.<br />

The 2011 Summer Dinghy series was<br />

quite popular with 17 open Dinghies and<br />

15 Optimists entering. The 2011 Autumn<br />

Dinghy series had 19 open Dinghies and<br />

seven Optimists. The 2011 Summer<br />

Series featured six races with 18 boats,<br />

while <strong>the</strong> 2011-<strong>2012</strong> Waglan series had<br />

10 races with 29 boats.<br />

Long-serving Sail Committee<br />

member Diana Bruce announced <strong>the</strong><br />

results and winners for <strong>the</strong> Dinghies,<br />

while chairman Bruce Perkins made <strong>the</strong><br />

announcements in <strong>the</strong> yacht category.<br />

The commodore’s wife, Natalie Berry,<br />

presented all prizes in both categories<br />

and in turn received a bouquet of flowers<br />

in thanks from Bruce Perkins.<br />

Bruce announced that Lucky Beer will<br />

sponsor <strong>the</strong> <strong>2012</strong> Summer Series races.<br />
