A student says:
"Everything about the Shakespeare School was spectacular.
lt was life-changing."
The Shakespeare School
The Shakespeare School is a residential summer theatre
intensive for all types of students from curious performers to
emerging artists. For one week (Grades 8 and 9), two weeks
(Grades 10 to 12) or three weeks (Grades 11 and 12), young
people are thrust into a rigorous schedule of workshops,
discussions, rehearsals and playgoing.
Shakespeare School students participate in daily classes
(Monday to Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) under the direction
of Stratford Shakespeare Festival artist-educators and
professional teachers and directors. They also meet members
of the Festival’s acting company and coaching staff in master
classes and discussions. Each day is varied, fast-paced and
exciting, with a focus on ensemble. Each session culminates
in a final presentation that allows students to demonstrate
what they have learned.
The Shakespeare School combines focused instruction with
a commitment to teamwork and the individual student’s
self-confidence and creativity, all in the picturesque setting
of Stratford and North America’s leading classical theatre.
Tuition includes tickets to plays, chaperoned dormitory
accommodation and all meals.
