And she whose hand the arrow sped,-

Built them a wigwam by the mere,

With them abode unvexed of fear,
And reared them to be wise and brave.
And from them sprang in after days,
And worthy of their race and name,

The brave and noble Senecas,
The mightiest warriors known to fame.
