Volunteer Opportunities
Eagle Scout Projects – We welcome Eagle
Scouts for trail building, blue bird trial development
and other projects. Call for details and to schedule.
Community Services For High School
Students – It’s never too early to get started on
collecting your community service hours. Please
contact us for current volunteer projects.
Invasive Weed Removal - Go to war against
invasive weeds! Work out by pulling garlic mustard
and stomping Japanese honeysuckle into the mud.
Instead of ripping your hair out from stress, take it
out on invasive pests. Join the fight at Philip Bolen
Memorial Park.
NEW TRAILS OPEN!
Did you know our park includes 200 acres of
woods, meadows, and stream valleys? The first of
our woodland and meadow trails are now open.
Bring the family and see what we’ve done so far!
Multiage hikes and interpretive programs
For the following programs, children under six
must be accompanied by an adult, unless noted.
Minimum numbers required to run programs;
please call or register in advance. All programs may
include outside activities or a hike, please dress
appropriately.
CAMPFIRES AT BOLEN
(All ages) Enjoy an evening in the park with the
whole family. All of our campfires include a short
interactive program or hike. You’ll definitely want
to attend more than one! Come early and have a
picnic. Bring blankets or chairs. We’ll bring the
marshmallows and toasting sticks. Call 571-258-
3487 to register.

STROLLIN’ AT BOLEN
(Ages 5 & up) Whether you want to walk in a creek,
check out the butterflies and flowers, look to see
who is using the birdhouses along the Bluebird
Trail, or just check out nature, join the Bolen
Strollers. Children under 6 must be accompanied
by an adult. All classes start at 4:30 p.m. at the
park office. Please call or check out park kiosks for
the current schedule. Additional classes may be
offered, subject to demand. Walk-ins are welcome,
but minimum numbers are required to run programs.

Climb, Swing, Zip Line
(Ages 9 & up) Bring your friends and family for
Upward Enterprise’s Challenge Course. Enjoy three
hours of fun and excitement. Ride our 600-foot zip
line through the trees and continue the adventure
through our tree top canopy tour. Tackle the 50-foot
climbing tower and check out the awesome view!
Will you be able to catch the trapeze bar when you
leap from the 22-foot pamper pole? Come and

TEEN & ADULT PROGRAMS

TUBING ON THE ANTIETAM
(Ages 8 & up) This 4-5 hour tubing trip has it all!
You will begin your trip a quarter mile below the
historic Burnside Bridge, and float through sections
of Antietam National Battlefield. Your cares will float
away on the riffles and ledges of this scenic, beginner
whitewater stream. Transportation provided
from Philip Bolen Memorial Park office. Bring lunch
and water. No prior experience necessary.

Introduction to Kayaking
(Ages 10 & up) This four-hour lesson combines
on-land and on-water activities for teaching the
fundamentals of kayaking. River & Trail Outfitters
provide experienced instructors and all necessary
gear. Lunch and transportation is provided from the
Philip Bolen Memorial Park office. No prior experience
necessary.

Potomac River on this seven-mile canoe trip.
Program includes macro-invertebrate study, water
testing and riparian reptile exploration. River & Trail
