The International Institute for Counter-
Terrorism (ICT) at the Lauder School
of Government, Diplomacy and Strategy
ICT is working to develop innovative public
policy on global terror through applied research
on the phenomenon of terror and methods of
coping with it. ICT aims to research the
psychological aspects of counter-terrorism and
to formulate recommendations which will on
one hand reduce the efficacy of the strategy of
terror and on the other hand improve the
public’s ability to endure this phenomenon.
ICT’s uniqueness is expressed, among other
ways, in the research methodology it has
adopted: special think tanks composed of
people from different disciplines and from both
the academic and security world. Since its
establishment, ICT’s activities have focused on
several areas: academic-applied research;
conferences and seminars; consulting services
for decision makers; public diplomacy and
educational activities; discussion and
brainstorming forums; and building and
maintaining Æ
databases.
Volunteering at ICT*
ICT offers students at the Lauder School of
Government the opportunity to contribute to
the research performed by one of the world’s
leading research institutes on counter-terrorism
under the supervision of an ICT researcher.
The Institute for Policy and Strategy
(IPS) at the Lauder School of Government,
Diplomacy and Strategy
The goal of IPS is to formulate policy
recommendations on key national security
issues, with an emphasis on strategy, foreign
police and international relations, regional
processes and diplomatic agreements,
intelligence and government, and trends in the
Jewish world. As a policy-oriented institute,
IPS provides a home to a wide variety of
opinions and ideas. It usually adopts a
multidisciplinary approach with an eye towards
the future, and considers issues from all angles
as well as how they fit into the big picture. IPS
depends on the professional network of
academics and government officials that it has
developed in Israel and abroad. In addition to
the annual Herzliya Conference, IPS convenes
policy teams, organizes meetings of experts
and hosts seminars and debates.
Volunteering at IPS*
IPS offers IDC Herzliya students - mainly
third-year students in the Lauder School of
Government, Diplomacy and Strategy - the
opportunity to volunteer to be on the
administrative staff of its annual Herzliya
Conference and gain exposure to content
and events that are a significant part of their
studies. Students interested in applying
should send their resume by fax to 09-9527310.
