Tradition and future in outline
As far back as 110 years ago, we were pioneers
in the field of sheet metal processing.
Building on this tradition, we still
see ourselves today as generators of impetus
and innovation—for technologies and
products with a future.
1889
Hugo Graepel manufactures the first perforated sheets
in Budapest.
1908
Claudius Graepel establishes a factory to manufacture
and process perforated sheets in Hanover; production
of the first "Graepel sieve”.
1915
Relocation of the plant to Halberstadt. Up to 400
people produce perforated sheets, threshing machine
sieves, radiator grilles and more than 40 other items,
many of them patented.
1923
Friedrich Graepel joins the
company.
1946
Following expropriation in Halberstadt, restart in
western Germany, with resumption of production in
Wilhelmshaven.
1948
Relocation to today’s site in Löningen; first apprentices
begin their training.
1953
Newly developed silos for
storing and drying grain
are presented for the first
time at the German
Agricultural Society
Exhibition (DLG) in
Cologne.
1965
Friedrich Claudius Graepel joins
the company.
1969
Start of production of
truck entrances. As
demand rises, the range
of machinery expands.
1976
Construction of a new building for tool manufacturing.
Production of skid-resistant safety gratings for
plant engineering and vehicle manufacture, and for
the construction industry, mining and the food industry.
1981
Merging of the separate companies to form a public
limited company. All shares are in the ownership of
the Graepel family. Friedrich Claudius Graepel becomes
the first sole director.
1990
New factory and warehouse built, along with office
buildings.
1991
Takeover of "Stalltechnik und Verzinkung
Seehausen/Altmark GmbH (STUV)” as a 100% subsidiary.
The "Safety under your feet” production line is
transferred there by Friedrich Claudius Graepel.
1992
Start of production of luggage compartment flaps
and side trim panels for coaches.
1996
Transformation of the subsidiary to an independent
organisation, change of name to Graepel-STUV GmbH.
2000
Construction of a new 2,000 m2 manufacturing shop
and warehouse at the Seehausen site.
2002
Construction of a new production shop and warehouse
in Löningen, 2,700 m2.
2003
Founding of Graepel Bozankaya Otomotiv San. Ltd.
Sti. in Sincan, Ankara.
2004
Founding of employee profit-sharing scheme Graepel
Mitarbeiter-Beteiligungs GmbH. Construction of new
buildings in Löningen (2,000 m2) and Seehausen
(2,500 m2).

More and more now, service and advice
are becoming crucial competitive criteria in
the marketplace. By tradition, we place
our faith in a partnership-based relationship
with our customers, and especially in
personal contact.
We have an active export policy in today’s
more integrated Europe and in North and
South America, and we established international
contacts in good time. We now
have agents with relevant market experience
on hand in many European countries—from
Finland to Turkey.
Since the company was founded in 1889,
Graepel has been family-owned, and
since 1948 it has been closely tied to the
Löningen site. We also have numerous
company agents available to our customers
on the ground throughout Germany.

design and manufacture a huge range of
perforated sheet products along with
semi-finished parts, ready-to-assemble
products and assemblies from sheet metal
for busses and coaches, trains and commercial
vehicles as well as for agricultural
machinery and construction site vehicles.
Our "Safety under your feet” product
range comprises profiled safety gratings,
steps, ladder rungs, ready-to-assemble
products and assemblies.
Recently, though, more and more areas of
application have been added where—
in addition to their stability and safety—
importance is attached to the aesthetic
qualities of perforated sheets: from products
designed for the presentation of
goods in shop fitting to attractively
designed floor coverings or stair components
in modern architecture.
