MAIN LIBRARY<br />

The Central Library <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> plays a vital role in dissemination <strong>of</strong> knowledge,<br />

teaching, research, <strong>and</strong> extension services. It has a seating capacity for about 250 readers<br />

at its different halls, which provide congenial conditions for study. The library remains open<br />

in 2 shifts from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm on all working days with usual break. The Library is<br />

stocked with encyclopedias, dictionaries, h<strong>and</strong>books, st<strong>and</strong>ard specifications, yearbooks,<br />

almanacs, abstracts, indexes <strong>and</strong> a big reference collection <strong>of</strong> text <strong>and</strong> general technical<br />

books.<br />

Stocks <strong>and</strong> Services<br />

The Library has more than 51000 volumes <strong>of</strong> books <strong>and</strong> scattered issues <strong>of</strong> scientific <strong>and</strong><br />

technical serials on diverse fields. Besides engineering subjects considerable reading<br />

material on humanities, social sciences <strong>and</strong> Islamic Studies is available.<br />

The members can borrow books <strong>and</strong> other materials, (except serials, reference or reserved<br />

books) for specific periods. They can also reserve materials, which are out in circulation. For<br />

this, reservation cards are to be h<strong>and</strong>ed over at the circulation counter.<br />

Book Bank<br />

The Library houses a Book Bank, which lends textbooks to the <strong>undergraduate</strong> students.<br />

Every user can have books from this section.<br />

DIGITAL LIBRARY<br />

Mission<br />

To meet the information requirements <strong>of</strong> students, researchers <strong>of</strong> UET Taxila, Pakistan with<br />

the provision <strong>of</strong> quality scholarly information based electronic delivery Through Pakistan<br />

Educational Research Network (PERN). HEC has given the online access <strong>of</strong> journals <strong>and</strong><br />

research papers to UET Taxila. Access to all these resources is free <strong>of</strong> cost from within the<br />

UET Taxila intranet for students <strong>and</strong> researchers <strong>of</strong> UET Taxila.<br />

SERVICES AND COMMON FACILITIES<br />

Objectives<br />

• To provide students/researchers in the university <strong>and</strong> eligible R&D organization<br />

with access to high quality journals, academic databases <strong>and</strong> articles across the<br />

widest range <strong>of</strong> disciplines.<br />

• To address the specific information needs <strong>of</strong> the sector with the delivery <strong>of</strong><br />

content relevant to national development objectives.<br />

• To support the delivery <strong>of</strong> information <strong>and</strong> effective use <strong>of</strong> Information <strong>and</strong><br />

Communication Technologies (ICTs) with extensive training for users with<br />

the library university <strong>and</strong> research community in Pakistan.<br />

• To work with international organizations to enhance the scope <strong>of</strong> available<br />

content <strong>and</strong> implements revolutionary technologies for the delivery <strong>of</strong> content.<br />

• To provide increased dissemination opportunities <strong>and</strong> promote the use <strong>and</strong><br />

visibility <strong>of</strong> locally produced research information.<br />

AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF PHYSICS TEACHERS<br />

Two AAPT publications provide up to date physics knowledge, at a level comprehensible<br />

for many users. AAPT publications assist in the learning <strong>of</strong> new <strong>and</strong> traditional teaching<br />

methodologies <strong>and</strong> the use <strong>of</strong> modern technology in Physics.
