With the immense increase in the dem<strong>and</strong> <strong>of</strong> telecommunication engineers, growth <strong>of</strong> global telecommunication industry,<br />

deregulation, privatization <strong>and</strong> rapid technological changes, UET Taxila established Telecommunication <strong>Engineering</strong><br />

Department under the Faculty <strong>of</strong> Telecommunication <strong>and</strong> Information <strong>Engineering</strong>.<br />

The department aims in imparting high quality education to the students with h<strong>and</strong>s on training on the latest <strong>and</strong> emerging<br />

telecommunication technologies. For their engineers to measure up to international st<strong>and</strong>ards, the Telecommunication<br />

<strong>Engineering</strong> Department is inducting the cutting edge technologies in the form <strong>of</strong> equipment <strong>and</strong> expertise in the form <strong>of</strong><br />

faculty <strong>and</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional training experts. This will help in achieving the <strong>University</strong> goals to produce engineers that are capable<br />

to take up any challenge in the industry <strong>and</strong> are able to perform their tasks efficiently with high precision.<br />

The department <strong>of</strong>fers <strong>undergraduate</strong> programs with the following objectives:<br />

• Allow R&D <strong>and</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Trainings in relevant technologies <strong>and</strong> areas including information Technology, Optical<br />

Fiber Systems, Digital Switching, Digital Subscriber Loop, Digital Radio systems, ISDN <strong>and</strong> Broadb<strong>and</strong> Networks,<br />

Digital <strong>and</strong> Broadb<strong>and</strong> Switching, Voice over IP, as well as Mobile <strong>and</strong> Wireless Communication Systems.<br />

• Provide a pool <strong>of</strong> expertise for defining optimal technology paths for the evolution <strong>of</strong> Telecommunication networks<br />

<strong>and</strong> services. These experts will be able to design the future telecommunication networks in our country. They also<br />

provide consultancy services to the industry.<br />

• To provide much needed technical manpower that are well versed with the myriad <strong>of</strong> new telecommunication<br />

products being floated in the world market today.<br />
