Program Objectives<br />

S<strong>of</strong>tware Program Objectives:<br />

Graduates <strong>of</strong> S<strong>of</strong>tware <strong>Engineering</strong> Program shall be able to:<br />

a. Apply proper theoretical, technical, <strong>and</strong> practical<br />

knowledge <strong>of</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware requirements, analysis,<br />

design, implementation, verification <strong>and</strong> validation,<br />

<strong>and</strong> documentation.<br />

b. Develop appropriate solutions to a given problem<br />

using s<strong>of</strong>tware engineering approaches that<br />

integrate ethical, social, legal, <strong>and</strong> economic<br />

concerns.<br />

c. Design, synthesize, <strong>and</strong> analyze, s<strong>of</strong>tware systems<br />

<strong>of</strong> increasing size <strong>and</strong> complexity at various<br />

abstraction levels i.e. from the individual component<br />

to the entire system architecture.<br />

d. An ability to define, assess, <strong>and</strong> apply s<strong>of</strong>tware<br />

quality practices for appropriate application<br />

on s<strong>of</strong>tware development projects in a variety <strong>of</strong><br />

domain areas.<br />

e. Be an effective member <strong>of</strong> a multi-disciplinary<br />

s<strong>of</strong>tware-intensive product development team.<br />

f. Able to communicate, to varied stakeholder<br />

audiences, technical concepts in a complete,<br />

concise, <strong>and</strong> correct manner in a format appropriate<br />

for the audience.<br />

g. Engage in lifelong learning <strong>of</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware engineering<br />

theories <strong>and</strong> technologies through graduate<br />

education, participation in pr<strong>of</strong>essional activities,<br />

or the acquisition <strong>of</strong> new technical pr<strong>of</strong>iciencies, or q<br />

managerial <strong>and</strong> leadership skills.<br />

The Department<br />

S<strong>of</strong>tware <strong>Engineering</strong> degree Program was started in 2002.<br />

Initially, it was setup in Electrical <strong>Engineering</strong> Department <strong>and</strong><br />

classes were conducted for evening session only. In the mean<br />

time, the construction <strong>of</strong> separate building for department<br />

worth Rs. 40 million with funding from HEC (Higher Education<br />

Commission) was completed in year 2006. Building comprises<br />

seven class rooms, nine labs, one girl’s common room, two<br />

examination halls <strong>and</strong> twenty <strong>of</strong>fices. Department has<br />

laboratories with sufficient hardware <strong>and</strong> s<strong>of</strong>tware facilities.<br />

Each lab is equipped with thirty PCs. The labs are networked<br />

<strong>and</strong> the department has wireless network coverage as well.<br />

S<strong>of</strong>tware engineering department organizes different<br />

events to encourage student’s participation <strong>and</strong> groom their<br />

technical as well as non technical skills. The events that have<br />

been arranged so far are; programming exhibition (Term<br />

projects exhibition in JAVA, C# etc), Database exhibitions,<br />

annual students day, seminars <strong>and</strong> workshops related to<br />

S<strong>of</strong>tware <strong>Engineering</strong> topics.<br />
