II. Organization of work
A. Attendance
2. The meeting was attended by indigenous experts from
the seven indigenous sociocultural regions; members of the
Permanent Forum; a member of the Expert Mechanism on
the Rights of Indigenous Peoples; representatives of departments,
agencies, funds and programmes of the United Nations
systems; representatives of other intergovernmental organizations,
non-governmental organizations (NGOs), donor and
academic institutions; and representatives of Member States.
The list of participants is contained in annex I.
B. Documentation
3. The participants had before them a draft programme of
work and a background paper. In addition, a number of documents
were submitted to the meeting by participants. Meeting

C. Opening of the meeting
4. At the opening of the meeting, a representative of the
Secretariat of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues
made an opening statement.
D. Election of officers
5. Ms. Victoria Tauli-Corpuz was elected Chairperson of the
workshop and Ms. Paimaneh Hastaie was elected Rapporteur.
