Critical Deadlines
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) invites you to become a
supporter of our premier pediatric educational conference—the 2012
National Conference & Exhibition (NCE) in New Orleans, LA. Early
commitments maximize recognition, so please submit your application
as soon as possible. Right of first refusal on prior year commitments
ends April 2, 2012. Education sessions will be available online after
June 1, 2012 so visit www.AAPexperieNCE.org, and click on attendee
educational sessions.
Founded in 1930, the AAP has more than 60,000 members dedicated to
the health and well-being of children. The AAP is dedicated to the lifelong
learning of its members and the NCE plays a key role in continuing
medical education, attracting more than 8,000 pediatric healthcare
professionals among the conference’s 13,000 attendees.

Funding Relationship Guidelines
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) employs key filters when working with
outside funding to ensure independence and autonomy of both organizations.
The program and sponsorship agreement must:
q Support the mission of the AAP to attain optimal physical, mental, and social
health and well-being for all infants, children, adolescents, and young adults.
q Address the professional needs of our members, and the patients and
families they serve.
q Protect and maintain the AAP’s public trust, integrity, ethical standards,
credibility, and identity.
q Comply with industry guidelines (e.g., the American Medical Association, the
Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, Council of Medical
Specialty Societies, and the Office of the Inspector General).
q Operate within our principles of medical ethics and acceptable medical
practice.
q Subsidize both direct and indirect program costs.
The AAP accepts financial and in-kind support from corporations, foundations,
individuals, and other organizations only if such acceptance would not pose a
conflict of interest and in no way impair the AAP’s objectivity, influence, priorities,
and actions. Support of AAP programs does not permit influence over content,
nor does it imply AAP approval or endorsement of an organization’s policies or
products, whether a program is funded by single or multiple sources.
Additionally,
q AAP member physicians and
program staff will be the
spokespersons and managers
of program activities. To ensure
independence of the AAP programs
and policies, it is important that
the AAP does not engage funders
as extensions of staff, nor as AAP
spokespersons.
q Use of the AAP name, logo, or its
programs by the funder must be
directly related to the program it
is sponsoring and have written
approval by AAP prior to any print
or electronic distribution.
q The AAP will steward funder
relationships with promptness,
honesty, and integrity. A member
of the Department of Development
(DOD) will be designated as the
primary point of contact to help
coordinate and facilitate a
positive relationship for the
funder and program staff.

CAUSE MARKETING
$50,000
This opportunity includes:
q Sponsor agrees to make a minimum contribution of $30,000/maximum
contribution of $50,000 to the AAP Friends of Children Fund (FCF) based
on traffic to the booth.
q Sponsor makes a minimum additional contribution (totaling to the
$50,000 maximum) of X dollars for each person stopping by their booth
and has their badge “read” by a Sponsor representative.
Sponsor makes a specific donation to the Friends of Children Fund on behalf
of Sponsor or in the member’s name (details to be agreed upon with Sponsor),
Sponsor receives both pre-event and on-site recognition encouraging attendees
to visit the Sponsor booth. Special signage will also be posted at the AAP
Philanthropy Booth.
Special Note: This opportunity will be limited to three corporations at this year’s
NCE. Last year organizations that participated had up to a 40% increase in traffic
to booth.
