Dream
Big
You might not think a teacher and a successful
business owner would have much in common.
But that’s not how Truxton, New York’s Katie
Dwyer — who has been both — sees it. Katie saw
teaching third grade as a chance to inspire children
to dream big. When her aunt gave her Arbonne as
a birthday gift, Katie saw a new chance to inspire —
and change her family’s life.
We’ve all heard stories about life being a roller coaster, a journey, about
the choices we make and their consequences. My amazing ride is
with an inspiring company called Arbonne International. I love telling
the story of the choices I’ve made and the journey that’s taken me to
Independent Consultant and Executive National Vice President of this
amazing company.
Eight years ago, I received the best birthday present of my life — the
gift of Arbonne. My aunt, ENVP BJ Pierce — whom I grew up believing
was my sister, because she’s only three years older than I am — gave
me Arbonne and the advice to come with her to the top of this company.
When I learned about Arbonne and the amazing pure, safe and beneficial
products, saying yes to my “Big Sister” was easy. I jumped right in.
“Isn’t it fun to learn from others and
duplicate what successful people have
already done?”
Family trip to Disney with Katie’s Why — PJ, Ryan, and Emma.
So there I was — a full-time third-grade teacher with a part-time job in
network marketing. I had no idea what I was doing, but BJ and ENVP
Sheila Greene taught me how to get started. They told me to launch, so
I launched. They told me to talk about the products, so I talked about
the products — I had my teacher colleagues all becoming regular clients.
Then they told me to talk about the business opportunity, and I did that
with gusto as well. At this point, I began to see my business grow.
Early on, though, it wasn’t so easy for me to find business builders
and simply duplicate the process. Yes, I was growing my business and
doing the personal development — which is the key to success — but I
lacked the vision to take my team to the top. I became very comfortable
where I was — and that meant a huge pause in my business. Some of
my team left, and I started to experience self-doubt.
But soon after that pause, I started to see the big picture, which meant
putting my family — my Why — first. I realized my children needed me
to become more present in their lives. And one morning I woke up and
finally had that crystal clear vision of my Nation. I promised myself I would
be home with my children for their teens. My oldest was turning 13 that
year, which meant I would have to really follow the system already in
place — and get my ask in gear!
Finally, I could see NVP, and I was ready to share this phenomenal
company with everyone with skin.
“This was the perfect time to follow
the system already in place —
and get my ask in gear!”
That’s when things took off, and by December 2011 I was in qualification
for Nation. The most amazing thing: I found a letter I had written to
myself five years before that read, “I am an NVP and it is February 2012.”
That note, along with my vision board, had become reality, and I was
full of gratitude and determined to pay it forward with everything I had.
Arbonne had taken the place in my heart where teaching was, but I
felt the two were connected in a huge way, as both gave to others and
changed people’s lives. I always give 150% in all I do, and that is what I
will always do with Arbonne. Life happens at various speeds in our life,
and I was going to hold on tight and really maximize this ride of a lifetime.
The exhilaration of the ride is watching others’ happiness and seeing
that pure transformation take place. Oh, how I love a great roller coaster
ride. Thank you Arbonne, for the best ride of my life!
There are so many people to thank. ENVP BJ Pierce, my aunt/big sister:
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this gift and all the special
times we get to experience together. I guess I chose the right time to
actually listen to you and follow your lead. Words can’t express my
gratitude. I love you very much and am so excited for what is next.
Another huge thank-you to ENVP Sheila Greene, Mama Bear: You have
such an amazing heart and lead with such integrity. Thank you for always
telling me how it is and saying it with such love — you are a true leader.
Thank you for always keeping it real and clear. You are such an inspiration.
NVP Keri Zoumas: Thank you for all you give back. You lead an amazing
team and have so much wisdom and fun doing so. Thank you for
being there and saying yes to Arbonne, and for following your heart
implementing your Zoumas School of Leadership.
Thank you to all of my up-line for saying yes and for never giving up.
Thank you to all those NVPs that have led, trained at all the NTCs, ACT
trainings, and at GTC — you all have given so much to me and every
person in attendance at those events, and for that I am so grateful. We
do learn from each other and are so much better together!
To all my RVPs: You all are NVPs. Your time is coming soon. RVP Dr. B.:
You have an amazing, sharing soul and your time is coming, my friend. We
still laugh when we remember one of our first Area Manager’s Retreats,
when I said I was a lifer and would probably walk across stage with my
walker. You too have that perseverance. RVPs Sandy Spina and Collette
Regina: Thank you for giving it your all every day and never settling for
➤
I really don’t understand why some people don’t get this business —
which has a simple (although not easy) system to follow. It’s like going
back to elementary school and playing “Follow the Leader.” Isn’t it fun
to learn from others and duplicate what successful people have already
done? Some people are born leaders, some are born followers, and
some do neither and complain. We get to choose in life. How cool is
that? I chose Arbonne — and to teach and train others to do what I do.
I chose to share the most remarkable products and business opportunity
on this planet with everyone who has skin — and get paid to do so.
Now back to that roller coaster ride. Giving to others — maybe a gift of
flowers, jewelry, or the keys to a Mercedes-Benz — that is life’s best thrill.
less. You two have that energy and vision — I will be taking all of you to
Maui with me next year for sure. I love you and all of my VPs.
Some of Katie’s amazing upline and sideline sisters at NVP retreat.
To an amazing group of AMs: You all inspire me so much. I love watching
as you become fabulous leaders. To the top and don’t stop, my friends!
To my super group of DMs: You make our Nation what it is. You are all
superstars on the rise. I so love how present you are at trainings and
how excited you are about what is next. I adore each and every one in
our Nation and believe that the best is yet to come for all of us.
To my family, my hubby PJ: Thank you for letting me dream big, go, go,
and go. You gave me wings and believed in what I knew to be true: We
were going to be a Nation, no matter how long it took. I love you and
can say you continue to be my best friend in life after 18 plus years. My
children, Ryan and Emma: You two were so cool about mom being gone
for that “Arbonne stuff.” You are my biggest cheerleaders and Emma,
you are going to make an excellent NVP someday. I love you both more
than you will ever know — this is for you two. Mom: Thank you for always
making the five-hour commute to support my vision; it means so much
to me that you believed I could really do this. Love you, mom!
Limo Incentive winners at GTC 2012 with Elvis.
Last but not least, a huge thank-you to Stian, Kay, and their rock star
staff! Your support along the way has been remarkable. I could never
ask for a better leading team than we have now. You are so loved and
appreciated. Thank you, Arbonne, for supporting this elementary teacher
and her motto of Dreaming Big.
In my almost eight years of Arbonne, I have learned so much about
myself and how to really listen to others. I have learned it is so much better
to give than receive. I so enjoy watching my team grow into fantastic
leaders, and I especially enjoy gifting them for their accomplishments. In
life, the choices we make define us. Choosing Arbonne has truly made
me a better person. I have done the self-development (still reading 30
minutes daily) and continue to grow every day, which is a huge part of
being successful in Arbonne.
Arbonne and teaching Elementary School went hand in hand — both
meant teaching others to Dream Big and always persevere. You have to
have failure in life to have success; the more rejection you face, the stronger
you become. One major piece of advice: You can’t fail at Arbonne
unless you quit. So chose to commit to being a lifer with Arbonne. That
perseverance will take you far. Never give up and just keep “swimming,
swimming.” You deserve this and so much more in life. Don’t look back
— just look up, and keep dreaming.
