Sewing & Quilting
Would you believe in the heat of the summer that we’re keeping very
cool? Yes, we’re already making items for the winter holidays. We’re
adding several new items this fall and some old favorites will also return
with a little twist. We’ll be selling these items and others at the Arts &
Crafts Expo on November 3 and at the Holiday Fair on December 8.
We cannot thank the SCA residents enough for supporting our shop.
Your purchases help us to support some very worthwhile charities in this
area. Come join us in the Sewing Room – where it’s also very cool during
these hot months. It’s only $2.00 a month to join from now to the
end of the year. We welcome new members. If you cannot sew, we can
teach you how. With our computer-ized sewing machines, it’s as easy as
pushing a button.
Singles
The Single’s Club held their Semi Annual Meeting and Chili
Cook-off in the courtyard of Independence Center. This activity
replaced the annual picnic. Eighty five members participated, tasted
chili, enjoyed refreshments provided by Pour for You, ate chicken provided
by the Club and fabulous salads and desserts provided by the
members, and listened to the song styling of Doug Roll. Eight members
participated in the Chili Cook-Off and received Green Valley
movie tickets for entering. Pictured is Gail Weiss, the Social Chair
who planned the event and won first prize with her White Chili with
Chicken. Runner up (for the second year in a row) was Theirrien
Clark, Past President. First prize was a $25.00 gift certificate to
Buckmans and second prize was a $15.00 gift certificate. This is an
annual event and all Single’s who reside in Sun City Anthem are invited
