Laboratory Tables (Workstations), Introduction
A steadily growing number of workplaces
in science and industry are faced
with increasing demands for effective
vibration isolation. Advances into
microcosmic realms, with the concomitant
high resolutions demanded of
today's technical equipment, call for
rigorous isolation of the equipment from
any vibration that may occur at the
workplace. There are three primary
sources of the disturbances that hinder
vibration-sensitive work
Ground or floor vibration, caused by
vibrations in the building, nearby
machinery, or street traffic
Acoustic vibration, caused by speech, air
conditioning units, equipment cooling
fans, etc., which activates the natural
vibration of the work surface.
Equipment vibration, caused by lasers,
power supplies, etc., that rest on the
same work surface.
Laboratory Tables, Design Features
Bearing Frame
The bearing frame of the support system
exhibits especially high rigidity thanks to
its dual tie-bar construction and
additional corner connections. The
unwanted effects of resonance are thus
prevented. The working height is 785 or
835 mm, depending on the Table Top
thickness, for comfortable use in a seated
position even over long periods of time.
An integrated height adjustment
mechanism compensates for any slant or
irregularity, for example on tiled floors,
to ensure a level, stationary work
surface. The support system can be
equipped with retractable transport
casters on request (see page 329).
These extreme demands on vibration
isolation equipment led to the development
of our Series 63 Laboratory Tables.
Series 63 Tables are designed specifically
for sedentary work and have a comprehensive
range of accessories for adaptation
to any task. Especially in the fields of
biology (e.g., electrophysiology, ultramicrotomy
and photomicroscopy) and
electronics (e.g., semiconductor wafer
inspection), these vibration-isolated work
surfaces are indispensable.

Tables is equipped with the Gimbal
Piston vibration isolation system The
patented design of the Gimbal Piston
isolator provides for effective horizontal
and vertical vibration isolation.
