Table Tops in CleanTop®II design feature top and bottom plates bonded<br />

directly to the steel honeycomb core. When a plastic insert is used<br />

to seal the tapped holes, the insert and its additional adhesive joints<br />

weaken the overall structure considerably. Furthermore the plastic layer,<br />

like the wood sidewalls, obstructs the transfer of heat through the<br />

plate. If one side is heated, massive warping can result (bimetal effect).<br />

The patented CleanTop®II design with its slender, cylindrical protective<br />

caps enables a more closely-meshed honeycomb core structure than a<br />

conical cap form permits. The honeycomb cells average approximately<br />

3 cm 2 , making them 50 % smaller than those in the competitor product.<br />

This ensures higher rigidity and heavier dead weight.<br />

The CleanTop®II design also guarantees a maximum thread engagement<br />

depth of 25 mm. Even a slight misalignment of the plastic insert<br />

reduces the thread engagement depth significantly, and in extreme<br />

cases can damage the sidewall.<br />
