STUDENT VISA APPLICATION CHECKLIST<br />
(EXCHANGE STUDENT CATEGORY)<br />

Applications are to be lodged at the Visitor Application Centre (VAC). Information on the VAC<br />
can be found on our branch website www.vfsglobal.com/newzealand/singapore.<br />
Immigration New Zealand reserves the right to request additional information in the course of<br />
assessing an application and to retain information and documents on file. If you provide false or<br />
misleading information your application may be declined.<br />
Non-English documents must be translated to English by a translation company. Selftranslations<br />
will not be accepted. Please submit both the Non-English and English<br />
documents.<br />
You do not have to provide original documents when you lodge your application. If<br />
you choose to, please provide a copy along with the original.<br />

A properly completed and signed Student Visa application form (INZ 1012)<br />

Application fee is to be paid in Singapore Dollars. Please refer to the Visa fee finder<br />
for payment information. The fee is NON-REFUNDABLE regardless of the outcome of<br />
your application.<br />

Original current passport<br />
For non-citizens, evidence of your residence status such as IC, employment pass,<br />
dependant pass, long-term visit pass or student pass<br />

OFFER LETTER & LETTER FROM YOUR SCHOOL/UNIVERSITY<br />
Offer letter from the New Zealand education provider stating course name, length of<br />
the exchange programme and whether course fee is payable.<br />

your student status, the course name and length of your course<br />
name of the New Zealand education provider, course name and the length of the<br />
exchange programme<br />
HEALTH REQUIREMENTS<br />
If your stay is more than 6 months and less than 12 months – submit a Chest X-ray<br />
Certificate (INZ 1096).<br />
If your stay is more than 12 months – submit a General Medical Certificate (INZ<br />
1007) & a Chest X-ray Certificate (INZ 1096)<br />
Note:<br />
The medical certificates must be less than 3 months old at the time your<br />
application is submitted. For applicants residing in Singapore and Maldives, any<br />
registered medical practitioner can complete your certificate. For Malaysia,<br />
Brunei, Seychelles, Afghanistan, refer to our panel doctors list.<br />
DO NOT SUBMIT the chest x-ray film or CD if your x-ray result is normal.<br />
Children under 11 years of age and pregnant women are not required to submit a<br />
chest x-ray.<br />
Your General Medical & Chest X-ray certificates are valid for 24 months (based on<br />
the certificate’s date of issue) when they are accepted by INZ. You need not submit<br />
a new one unless you have been advised otherwise.<br />
If you have spent the last 6 consecutive months in a country that is not a lowincidence<br />
country for tuberculosis since departing New Zealand and you intend to<br />
stay in New Zealand for more than 6 months, you must submit a NEW Chest X-<br />
ray certificate.<br />
CHARACTER REQUIREMENTS<br />
Police certificates are required if you are aged 17 years and above intending to stay in<br />
New Zealand for 24 months or longer:<br />
1. From your country of citizenship, and<br />
2. Any country in which you have lived for 5 years or more since the age of 17 years.<br />
Note:<br />
Police certificates must be less than 6 months old at the time your application is<br />
submitted.<br />
Police certificates are valid for 24 months (based on the certificate’s date of issue).<br />
FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS<br />
Amount required<br />
Courses which are more than 36 weeks - funds of NZ$15,000 per year<br />
Courses which are less than 36 weeks - funds of NZ$1,250 per month OR a<br />
letter from the education provider confirming accommodation and other living<br />
expenses are included as part of a prepaid package.<br />
Evidence of funds – please provide one of the following:<br />
If you are sponsored, a completed Financial Undertaking for a Student form<br />
(INZ1014). Please refer to page 1 of the form for supporting documents you<br />
must submit.<br />
If you are self-sponsored, bank statements for the last 6 months in your name<br />
or a letter from the bank stating the balance amount in your account.<br />
Letter of award of scholarship stating the scholarship amount, duration of the<br />
scholarship and what it covers.<br />
