Bloodless Medicine and surgery Program (202) 444-1797
www.Georgetownuniversityhospital.org/Bloodless
Georgetown’s Bloodless Medicine and Surgery Program uses innovative techniques
before, during and after surgery to avoid the transfusion of donor blood. Whether
for religious reasons or medical preferences, the benefits of bloodless medicine
and surgery are faster recovery times, lower mortality rates, no risk of contracting
blood-borne infections and fewer complications. From complex gastroenterology
surgery to advanced brain surgery, most surgical procedures today can be safely
performed without a blood transfusion.
