The store features a select number of different items offered on a seasonal basis: shirts, hats, jackets and sweatshirts. There will also be specialty items available throughout the year. The store will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday, and one hour before and one hour after the monthly meetings. The store will accept cash, credit card or debit card. It turns out that it has been even busier than I thought. That is fine with me because we have many things that we need to accomplish together. “I will make sure that our Local 25 members’ interests remain protected.” –SEAN M. O'BRIEN PRESIDENT/ PRINCIPAL OFFICER During the past several months, I have had the opportunity and the honor to serve on the National UPS Negotiating Committee at the request of General President Jim Hoffa. At times, negotiations have gone slow. Other times, the company has frustrated us. But one thing is for sure: all the committee members are united in our goal to protect our UPS members’ pensions, and health and welfare benefits. In late March, the committee began bargaining economics. In April, the committee will focus on the supplements, which cover local working conditions. I will make sure that our Local 25 members’ interests remain protected. In May, we will return to bargain economic issues. I look forward to resuming discussions about pensions, health and welfare, the issues you have identified as the top priorities. At Local 25, we continue to focus our attention on the top-notch representation that you have come to expect, and you are entitled to. That means negotiating the strongest contracts, organizing to grow our union and defending your hard-fought rights in the workplace. While I am on the road at UPS negotiations, I have made it clear to my agents, officers and staff, that serving you remains our number one priority. You are Local 25. As your elected Local Union leadership, we are not only here to serve you the membership, but we have an obligation to serve the community as well. We have taken steps recently and engaged our Union in helping numerous local charities. As part of our continuing efforts to reach out to you more effectively, I am excited to announce the launching of Teamsters TV. We have created this to bring you video presentations of Teamsters Local 25 events and important news. To access Teamsters TV, visit Local 25’s web site, www.teamsterslocal25.com, and click on the “Teamsters TV” button. You may choose a link to watch a video clip. Right now we have clips of my inauguration, a video of U.S. Rep. Michael E. Capuano, (D-MA), and highlights of the February 2007 monthly meeting. We plan to expand programming, and we welcome your ideas. Please contact us with your suggestions. Meanwhile, I urge you to become active in Local 25. Whether you are a longtime member, or fairly new, your voice matters. Our general membership meetings are held the third Sunday of each month at our Union Hall, 544 Main St., in Charlestown.
