It was also decided that the next Annual
Meetings be held either in Paris or along with the
African Regional Conference to be held in Cairo
in 1992; the Eastern Region Conference to be
held in Thailand in 1993 and the World
Tuberculosis and Chest Diseases Conference to
be held in Mainz (Germany) in 1994.

Specialist, formerly the Chief Medical Officer of
the Indian Railways has been appointed as the
Associate Editor of the Indian Journal of
Tuberculosis.
OBITUARY
Prof. K.V. Krishnaswami, a senior tuberculosis
worker, passed away on 17th November, 1991 at
Madras. He was the Director of Institute of TB &
Chest Diseases (now Institute of Thoracic Medicine)
for over eleven years. Prof. Krishnaswami
was a member of the Central, Executive and
Standing Technical Committees of the Tuberculosis
Association of India. He was the President
of the 32nd National Conference on TB & Chest
Diseases held at Trivandrum in November 1977
and also the Chairman of the Standing Technical
Committee—1977. He was also a member of the
Editorial Board of the Indian Journal of Tuberculosis.
He was the recipient of Dr. B.C. Roy Award
in 1979, the T.A.I. Gold Medal in 1983 and was
awarded the 'Wander-TAI Oration' in 1974.
Prof. Krishnaswami, sudden demise is a great
loss to the Tuberculosis Association of India,
Anti-TB Association of Tamil Nadu and the TB
workers in the country, which would be very
difficult, if not impossible to make up. Our
heartfelt condolences are extended to the family
of late Prof. K.V. Krishnaswami.
NEW OFFICIAL JOURNAL OF IUATLD
In February 1992, a new scientific journal will
replace the IUATLD Bulletin as the official
journal of the IUATLD. It will be formed by
merging the two existing journals, Tubercle and
the Bulletin, and will be published by Churchill
Livingstone under the title Tubercle and Lung
Disease.
It will publish original primary articles and
commissioned reviews on both research and
clinical work in tuberculosis and all other lung
diseases with particular emphasis on community
health, elaboration, implementation and
assessment of field projects and action
programmes against tuberculosis and lung
diseases.
The new scientific journal will have six issues
per year, compared with the four issues of the
present Bulletin, containing articles principally in
English but also orginal articles submitted in
French and Spanish. Each article will be
preceded by an abstract translated into the two
other languages.
SUBSCRIPTION INFORMATION 1992
Ordinary membership fee of the IUATLD,
Paris, for the year 1992 is FF 575 (equivalent to
Rs. 2,800/-). By virtue of this membership the
members will be eligible to receive from the
Union the new scientific journal and Newsletter
and just for the membership and the Newsletter,
the subscription is FF 200 (equivalent to Rs. 950).

non-IUATLD members is SB 66.26. For
