The Thomas A. and Alma Neale World Mission and Evangelism<br />

Award in Speech Communication in Ministry<br />

Through the generosity of Dr. G. Robert Jacks, Class of 1959, associate professor<br />

of speech and communication at <strong>Princeton</strong> <strong>Seminary</strong>, this award was<br />

established in memory of his grandparents, Thomas A. and Alma Neale. Jacks<br />

earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and his Ph.D.<br />

from Columbia University. He was ordained by the Presbytery of Indianapolis,<br />

Indiana, in 1959. He served as assistant pastor of the First Presbyterian Church<br />

in Medford, Oregon, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Wyandotte,<br />

Michigan, and assistant pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis,<br />

Indiana, before beginning his teaching career at the <strong>Seminary</strong> in 1967.<br />

In 2008 the award was granted to Mansour Khajehpour.<br />

The Arthur Paul Rech Memorial Award in Theology and Pastoral<br />

Ministry<br />

In 1990, <strong>Seminary</strong> trustee Jean May Rech established an award in memory of her<br />

husband, the Reverend Dr. Arthur Paul Rech, Class of 1945. Together, Dr. and Mrs.<br />

Rech began the Young Life Ministry in Chester, Pennsylvania, and in Los Angeles,<br />

California. Later, Paul Rech was a field director for Young Life in Los Angeles. The<br />

couple also opened the Rech Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling Services in<br />

Brentwood, California.<br />

In 2008 the award was granted to Pamela J. Masten.<br />

The Charles J. Reller Abiding Memorial Fund Award<br />

The Neshaminy-Warwick Presbyterian Church in Hartsville, Pennsylvania, has established<br />

this award in memory of Charles J. and Caroline Z. Reller, devoted members<br />

of that congregation who gave unstintingly of their time and talent in leadership<br />

to their church and community.<br />

In 2008 the award was granted to Sarah E. Watermulder.<br />

The George L. Rentschler Award in Speech Communication<br />

Through the generosity of the Reverend George L. Rentschler, Class of 1941, this<br />

award was established in the area of speech communication. Rentschler served<br />

several congregations, including the First Presbyterian Church in Ripley, New York,<br />

the First Presbyterian Church in Ashland, New Jersey, the First Presbyterian Church<br />

in Birmingham, Michigan, the First Presbyterian Church in Ionia, Michigan, and the<br />

Presbyterian Church of Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He also served as chaplain of the<br />

Anclote Psychiatric Hospital in Tarpon Springs, Florida, and later became a consultant<br />

for chaplain services.<br />

In 2008 the award was granted to Nicholas S. Preuninger.<br />
