Question 1
Can the council please provide a progress report on what preventative measure have
been undertaken to prevent recurring flooding?
Response
Preventative measures were listed for action in council report CR 11.124 October 2011
and the following works commenced:
Raise crossover to 119 completed in July 2011. This was effective during this
storm.
Clean manhole of all silt. Completed in July 2011
Install additional soakwells in The Boulevard / Selby Street. Three of six were
installed commencing prior to the Monday 12 December 2011 storm.
Preliminary design of an underground sump for Selby Street has been completed
and is under final design review and costing at the moment. It is proposed to
present this design and cost to Council in February 2012. This is the longer term
solution which means the vacant sump land will not require excavation.
Sand bags have been supplied for all adjacent properties together with rubber
humps to assist.
Question 2
Can the council indicate when measures will be put in place to prevent further flooding to
422 Cambridge Street?
Response
The long term solution will be presented to council in Feb 2012 and when funding is
approved works can be implemented.
Question 3
Can the Council provide information on what compensation is available to owners for
damage to their properties and furnishings?
Response
As advised by Council's liability insurers, No compensation is available for owners for
storms which exceed original stormwater design assumptions.
