COUNCIL MINUTES TUESDAY 20 DECEMBER 2011 The section of street from Creech Lane to Cambridge Street has parking restrictions indicating "2 Hour Parking 8.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday". On-street parking in this area is in high demand and requests have been received from nearby business owners for additional parking to accommodate their clients and visitors. Amending the parking restrictions in Station Street from Barrett Street to Creech Lane to "2 Hour Parking 8.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday" will provide an additional four parking bays without affecting the amenity of the adjoining property and will discourage long term or all day parking by commuters or persons attending events at Subiaco Oval. The Administration advised the resident/owner of 23 Barrett Street of the proposal to amend the parking restrictions in Station Street, adjacent to the side boundary of the property by letter drop on 10 November 2011, prior to its consideration by Council. A telephone response was received from the owner on 25 November 2011 indicating that they had no objection to the proposal. In further discussion, it was suggested that a minor amendment could be made to the proposal so that the parking restrictions would read "2 Hour Parking 8.00am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday - Residential Permit Parking Excepted." It is considered that this proposed verge parking amendment would satisfy the requirements of the adjacent property owner and provide medium term parking for clients of the nearby medical suites. POLICY/STATUTORY IMPLICATIONS: Amendments for parking restrictions as detailed in this report are in conformity with Policy No. 5.2.22(i) - 'Implementation of Restrictions'. Council may make regulations for parking under the provisions of the Local Government Act 1995, Schedule 9.1. FINANCIAL IMPLICATIONS: The total cost of the proposed parking amendments is estimated to be $200. This amount can be accommodated under Budget Item - 'Road Name Signs and Parking Signs'. STRATEGIC DIRECTION: The Town's Strategic Plan 2009-2020 has specific outcome areas to strive for, namely:- Community - Quality service to meet identified community needs and expectations; - A safe community. COMMUNITY CONSULTATION: This matter has been assessed under the Town's Community Consultation Policy as "Inform" with the objective "to provide the community with balanced and objective information to assist them in understanding the problem, alternatives and/or solutions". The directly affected property owner/resident was advised in writing of the proposal and further consulted by telephone, prior to the submission of this report.
