COUNCIL MINUTES

COMMUNITY CONSULTATION:
In accordance with Policy No. 1.2.11, community consultation was carried out in the
preparation of the Bicycle Plan 2009 on which this 5 year program is based.
SUMMARY:
The Town of Cambridge Bike Plan 2009 indicates how the existing network of bicycle paths
should be improved over the next five years. Appendix I - "Town of Cambridge Long Term Bike
Plan (map)" from the Bike Plan has been updated to show the completed shared path projects
that were funded in the 2010/11 Budget.
The remaining shared path projects proposed in the Bike Plan 2009 are listed in this report with
a revised estimate of cost and ranked in a revised five year program of works. The total value
of each year's of projects is approximately $500,000 so that they may be funded by the
$500,000 Shared Path Program item in future budgets.
Year 1 of this program is recommended for the Shared Path Program item in the Draft 2011/12
Budget.

During discussion, the Administration was requested to provide further information on the
possibility of creating a shared path by widening the existing path on Dodd Street from
Harborne Street to Herdsman Parade. It was noted that construction of new path sections and
replacement of existing slabs is part of the proposed 2012/13 works listed in report CR11.153
in the December 2011 Council Agenda.

That funding of $500,000 listed in the adopted 2011/12 Budget be used to carry out high
priority shared paths on:-
(i) West Coast Highway (Helston - Underpass West) - $100,000;
(ii) West Coast Highway (Underpass - Rochdale East) - $100,000;
(iii) Railway Parade (Haydn Bunton - West Leederville Train Station South) - $60,000;
(iv) Dodd Street (Harborne - End) - $70,000;
(v) Southport Street (Tower - Lake Monger Drive West) - $50,000;
(vi) Pearson Place (Turriff - Peebles East) - $50,000;
(vii) Grantham Street (Selby - Seymour South) - $50,000;
(viii) Crosby Street (Peebles - Grantham East) - $20,000;
(ix) Underwood Avenue (Meagher - Brockway North) - $Nil (Perry Lakes Stage 3).
