Use of DILM contactors without series resistor for group
compensation
When using contactors for group compensation, a minimum
inductance of approx. 6 µH per capacitor must be available to
limit the high inrush current peaks. This corresponds to an aircored
coil with 5 windings and a coil diameter of approximately
∅ 140 mm. The conductor cross-section must be selected
according to the rated current per phase.
Through the use of EWDIL quick-discharge resistors, the danger
of complete polarity reversal in the event of rapidly recurring
closure can be excluded. The resultant make times are 0.2 s.
The resistor is switched by means of two auxiliary contacts of
the contactor.
