The capacitors are pre-charged via the early-make<br />
auxiliary contacts and the fitted wire resistors, thereby<br />
reducing the inrush current. The main contacts then<br />
close after a time lag and carry the uninterrupted<br />
current.<br />
The contactors for capacitor are weld-resistant with<br />
inrush current peaks up to 180 x I e due to their<br />
special contacts.<br />
Through the use of quick-discharge resistors the<br />
danger of <strong>com</strong>plete polarity reversal in the event of<br />
rapidly recurring closure can be excluded. The<br />
resultant discharge times are 0.2 s. The resistor is<br />
switched by means of two auxiliary contacts of the<br />
contactor.<br />
