New Member Hotels<br />

A Round-up of New Members and Timely Packages<br />

The Leading Hotels of the World, Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has accepted the<br />

following new member hotels:<br />

The Chedi, Muscat is an exclusive resort on the Boushar beachfront, 30 kilometers from<br />

the center of Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman. The 151 rooms and suites overlook<br />

either the Indian Ocean or the mountains of Muscat. The Restaurant, serving<br />

continental, Thai and Indian cuisines, is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; the Serai<br />

Pool Bar and Chedi Pool Bar offer lunch and dinner. The hotel also has two swimming<br />

pools, a spa and fitness center.<br />

The newly opened Grand Regency Hotel is located in the prestigious Al Saad area of<br />

Doha, Qatar. With 192 rooms and suites, it provides the latest in amenities and comfort<br />

for international travelers. Restaurants include Grand Gourmet, serving an international<br />

buffet; Tanjia, offering Moroccan cuisine; and Chopsticks, featuring Chinese fare. The<br />

hotel can accommodate meetings of up to 80 people.<br />

Opened in 2002, the Parkview Hotel is situated in the Chang’an section of Dongguan,<br />

People’s Republic of China, just 20 minutes from Shenzhen International Airport. With<br />

383 rooms and suites, the hotel offers spectacular views of the Pearl River Delta and<br />

Lotus Mountain. Dining options include Parklane Café & Grill, Chiba Japanese<br />

Restaurant, Chie Chow Garden, and Kapok Cantonese Restaurant. Six meeting and<br />

banquet rooms accommodate groups of up to 550 people.<br />

The Mayfair Hotel & Spa is just minutes from downtown Miami, Florida, in Coconut<br />

Grove, a hip neighborhood known for its energy, restaurants and nightlife. Each of the<br />

179 suites offers a private terrace and spa tub, as well as the latest technological


amenities. Guests can savor Asian-influenced cuisine in Ginger Grove Restaurant, or<br />

relax over cocktails in The Lotus Garden. Jurlique Spa is ideal for exceptional<br />

pampering. <strong>For</strong> conferences and social functions there are eight rooms accommodating<br />

up to 240 people.<br />

The 364-room Kahala Hotel & Resort, in the prestigious Kahala residential area of<br />

Honolulu, Hawaii, overlooking both Diamond Head and Koko Head, is an idyllic getaway<br />

for visiting celebrities and royalty alike. <strong>For</strong> dining, guests enjoy a variety of options:<br />

Plumeria Beach House for American cuisine, Tokyo Tokyo, The Veranda, Hoku’s for<br />

seafood, Cabanas Seaside Grill, and Honu Bar & Terrace. Other notable features<br />

include Spa and CHI Fitness Center and the famous Dolphin Lagoon with six Atlantic<br />

bottlenose dolphins. Seven meeting rooms can accommodate up to 390 people.<br />

The Leading Small Hotels of the World has added the following property to its roster:<br />

Totally renovated in 2005, Convento do Carmo Hotel is located in the Pelhourinho<br />

district of Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. The 79 rooms and suites of this former 16 th -century<br />

convent offer an ideal blend of classical elegance and contemporary amenities.<br />

Conventual restaurant serves both American cuisine and seafood specialties. Health<br />

club facilities are complemented by the Shishindo Spa and an outdoor pool. Banquets<br />

or meetings of up to 300 can be accommodated in two function rooms.<br />

A Royal Visit<br />

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, a member of the monarch family of<br />

Dubai and chairman of the airline Emirates, became the first guest to stay in the new Sir<br />

Stamford Raffles Suite in the Raffles Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, Hamburg. The official<br />

ceremonies for the inauguration of the daily Hamburg-to-Dubai flight took place on<br />

March 6, 2006, and the Sheikh then continued to Berlin to visit ITB, the world’s largest<br />

tourism fair.<br />

Renovations Completed<br />

The Langham Hotel, Auckland has completed its multi-million dollar refurbishment<br />

creating arguably New Zealand’s most elegant and luxurious five-star hotel. The NZD12<br />

million project has involved the total transformation of the hotel’s 410 guest rooms,<br />

including new furnishings and décor creating an opulent and elegant atmosphere.<br />
