Exploration Licence EL7211
Wambo Coal Pty Ltd
15 December 2008

Exploration License - EL7211
• Granted on 29 September 2008
• Valid for 3 years
EL7211
• Contains 135 conditions, clauses and sub clauses
governing:
- Further approvals required
- Protecting the environment
- Entry to land and landholder liaison
- Exploration
- Rehabilitation
- Reporting

EL7211 - Exploration Area
• Formerly ELA3465
• Comprises 967 hectares
• Directly affects 23
landholders
• Contains:-
- Southern portion of Jerrys
Plains village
- Sensitive areas* including:
• Convict pit
• Cemetery
• Community hall
• Historic residences
*Note:- Peabody will not drill
in the sensitive areas

EL7211 - Exploration Strategy
• Exploration to commence February 2009 after negotiation of
access agreements, further approvals and procurement of
exploration services
• Purpose in 2009 is to establish the potential of the coal
resource down to the Bowfield Seam (up to 650m deep)
• Depending on the results obtained from the initial drilling the
programme will be progressively expanded to establish a
250m grid of boreholes that will enable a definition of the
resource to a measured status according to the JORC Code*
*The Australasian Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and
Ore Reserves (2004), utilised by analysts and investors for investment purposes

• Drilling occurs on a predetermined
pattern:
- Initial drilling to establish the
potential, ● holes
- Thereafter drilling is aimed at
infilling the data, progressively
establishing a 1km grid, ● and
● holes, then 500m grid, ●
holes, and finally 250m grid, ●
holes.
• Final position of the holes
determined by agreement with
land owner, environmental
constraints, topography and
surface infrastructure

EL7211 Access Agreements and Compensation
• Governed by Sections 138 to 158 of Mining Act 1992
• To make provision for:
- Periods during which permitted to access land
- Land where prospecting may take place and means of entry
- Types of prospecting allowed
- Conditions to be observed while prospecting
- Things that have to be done to protect the environment
- Compensation payable to the landholder
- Manner of resolving disputes that arise
- Manner of varying the agreement
- Other matters agreed to be included
• Compensation will be negotiated with each land holder as appropriate and
will be based on duration of entry and benchmark payments in the area

EL7211 Peabody Undertakings
• Compliance with EL7211 conditions
• Drilling and other intrusive exploration activities will not be undertaken in
the precincts of the convict pit, cemetery, community hall and historic
buildings
• Forming a working group representing landholders on whose properties
exploration will take place to establish exploration protocols:
- Entry notification
- Drill site standards
- Liaison programme (addressing inquiries and complaints)
- Final Inspections
- Feedback sheets
• Regular feedback on progress with exploration activities and resultant
changes to exploration area through community meetings, Wambo
Community Consultative Committee and newsletters
