<strong>Bicycle</strong> Lanes at Interchanges<br />

Design Summary<br />

<strong>Bicycle</strong> Lane Width:<br />

The bicycle lane width through the interchange should be the<br />

same width as the approaching bicycle lane (minimum five feet).<br />

Additionally, bicycle lane should follow guidance in sections A.3.2<br />

through 1.3.3.<br />

Discussion<br />

On high traffic bicycle corridors non-st<strong>and</strong>ard treatments may be<br />

desirable over current practices outlined in Figure 9C-104 in the<br />

California MUTCD. Dashed bicycle lane lines with or without<br />

colored bicycle lanes may be applied to provide increased<br />

visibility for bicycles in the merging area.<br />
