Prerequisites
Each CAP Exam is based on ARIS Training course information per
application as follows:
� CAP Exam: ARIS Business Designer v7.1
ARIS Course required: Business Process Modeling with ARIS
Business Designer (Course code: ABD)
� CAP Exam: ARIS Business Architect v7.1
ARIS Course required: Managing ARIS Projects with ARIS
Business Architect (Course code: ABA)
� CAP Exam: ARIS for SAP v7.1
ARIS Course required: Implementing and Optimizing Process-
Driven SAP Solutions with ARIS for SAP Overview (Course Code:
A4SAPO)
It is recommended that you complete ARIS Training prior to taking the
CAP examination. For training details and enrollment, please visit

Through IDS Scheer’s ARIS training and the regular use of ARIS, you will
be prepared to answer the exam questions. A user will pass the exam
when 70% or more of the questions are answered correctly.

Exam Preparation
The CAP Exams are all created in the same format and cover the
following areas:
Section I: ARIS & Business Process Management
This section includes questions about the ARIS framework and views, as
well as general questions about business process modeling.
Section II: ARIS Database Basics
This section includes questions about windows, object vs. occurrence
level, etc.
Section III: ARIS Methods
This section provides questions about common ARIS process modeling
methods, such as the VACD and the EPC.

Section IV: Modeling Basics
This section includes questions about basic handling in ARIS
(e.g., creating new models, objects, copying, etc.). To answer these
questions, you should have experience using ARIS and knowledge of
basic ARIS functionality.
Section V: Checking & Evaluating
This section includes general questions about ARIS reporting.
Section VI: Advanced ARIS
This section covers “advanced" questions about ARIS database
backup/restore and the ARIS method filter covered in the ARIS Basics
Training course.

1. Users will be charged $499.00 USD each time an exam is taken.
2. The CAP Exam is a timed exam – you have four (4) hours to
complete each exam.
3. All CAP Exams are multiple choice – the questions are derived
directly from the ARIS Training materials for each application.
4. The following is a list of CAP Exams offered by IDS Scheer and the
number of multiple choice questions per exam:
• ARIS Toolset v6.23 – 74 questions (will be discontinued as of
01/01/2010)
• ARIS Business Designer/Architect v7.02 – 74 questions (will be
discontinued as of 01/01/2010)
• ARIS Business Designer v7.1 – 75 questions
• ARIS Business Architect v7.1 – 75 questions
• ARIS for SAP v7.1 – 30 questions
5. Users cannot go back to previous questions.
6. Best Practice: Read the entire question and all answers FIRST , then
verify your answer in ARIS, then select the answer in the Exam (some
questions can be tricky so choose wisely).
7. Exam time stops when browser is closed; therefore, select Log out
as closing the browser and not selecting Log out will result in the
user being timed out of the exam.
8. Exam time begins again once the user Logs back into the exam.
9. Exam results will be displayed immediately after the last question is
answered.
10. Passing score = 70% and above.
11. Users who pass the exam will be e-mailed a CAP Certificate (pdf
format) within 1 month of completion.
