Patrol Equipment Care Tips
Rain Poncho Care
If you have a poncho, protect it! The following suggestions will help you get the maximum years
of wear:
1. Hang the poncho on a wooden hanger with shoulders centered on the hanger
arms.
2. Hang in a place that is cool and away from direct sunlight and heat.
3. Make certain that the sleeves are straight. Turned-back cuffs hold water and
may cause cracking or mildew.
4. If dirty, wipe clean with a damp cloth only.
Belt Care
Your belt should be taken off during off-duty hours, rolled up, and kept in a designated place.
Yellow-green fluorescent belts should be cleaned regularly with a damp cloth. Your belt will be
bright and smart-looking if you take care of it!
If your patrol belt needs washing:
1. Pour some liquid soap or powder onto a damp cloth and scrub.
2. Rinse the belt thoroughly.
3. Artificial heat such as dryers or ovens should not be used for
rapid drying.
4. Alcohol and abrasive cleaners should not be used.
Badge Care
Your badge should only be worn on the patrol belt. It should be
pinned on the shoulder strip of the belt at chest level. Badges
should be removed only when the belt is being washed. Removing
and replacing the badge several times each day causes the pin to
break.
Badges may be cleaned by washing with a mild soap and water. It
is important to immediately dry the badge. Abrasive polishes should
not be used to clean badges.

How to Fold Your AAA School Safety Patrol Belt
1. Beginning with your patrol belt laying on a
flat surface, match the waist portion of the
belt together and then the shoulder portion of
the belt together.
2. Fold under the right side of the waist portion of the belt.
3. Fold under the left side of the of the waist
portion of the belt.
4. Fold under the shoulder portion of the belt so it wraps
around the belt waist until folded completely.
5. Secure with a rubber band.
