Counselor’s Character Corner
The character trait for the month of October is respect and students have been involved in
classroom lessons on how to show respect toward others. Lessons have focused on how to use
respect when addressing conflicts. The program being used is called Kelso’s Choice.
This program helps teach young students effective ways to deal with conflict. Students have also
been taught that if they have a big problem they are to get help from a grown-up right away.
Conflict or disagreement is normal and often happens when children get together. However,
hurtful words, gestures, or physical attacks are unacceptable ways to deal with conflict and
disagreement at school. Our goal is to teach students several positive ways to deal with these
difficult situations.
The wheel of choices below is what children are encouraged to use. Please talk with your children
about the many choices they have to work out conflicts and discuss different situations where
they can choose the various options to solve a conflict.

Re: Fall Program
The fifth grade students and students in the 4/5HA will be
presenting their fall music program “Music Matters” on October 9,
2012 in the Reagan gym. The program will begin at 6:30PM.
Students should meet in the Reagan cafeteria at 6:15 to line up for the program.
Students should wear black or navy blue slacks and a short-sleeved tee shirt or polo shirt that
is white. Girls may wear a black dress or skirt or Capris.
We are looking forward to performing for all of the parents,
families and friends.
Thanks in advance for all of your help in making this program an
enjoyable experience for your students.
Please feel free to call me with any questions at 852-1060 ext. 2619 or
email me at medwards@brownsburg.k12.in.us.
Program Reminder!!!!
On the Spot Productions will be videotaping our programs for
us as they have in previous years. You will have the opportunity
to order a DVD the evening of the performance.
Payment will be expected with the order form on the night of the
program (orders will not be taken any other day), and the DVD
will be sent to your home in approximately two weeks.
Only the Fifth Grade and 4/5 HA class program will be included on the DVD.
The cost of the DVDs is $20.00. You may pay by check or cash or credit card.
This is not a fundraiser for Reagan nor does Reagan receive any of the proceeds from
the sale of the DVDs. This is simply a service offered by this company.
