Custodial History (Provenance): Box of items relating to Gypsum found in a<br />
trunk at a garage sale in Denver. The box was delivered to Pam Schultz, Town of<br />
Gypsum, by an unidentified person. Pam Schultz, Jenny Ellringer and Danette Schlegel<br />
organized the contents of the box and donated it to the <strong>Eagle</strong> Public <strong>Library</strong>, Local<br />
History Department, on November 29, 2006.<br />
Note (Abstract): The collection contains photos of the Horn, <strong>Quinlan</strong>, Grimes,<br />
and Gates families; receipts and documents of Sarah <strong>Dougherty</strong> and R. E. <strong>Quinlan</strong>;<br />
personal letters to Agnes <strong>Quinlan</strong>; student work, <strong>Mosher</strong>-<strong>Quinlan</strong> children; newspapers.<br />
The earliest date is 1891; the latest date is 1964.<br />

Arrangement: The items are arranged by format as received from the Town of<br />
Gypsum by the <strong>Eagle</strong> Public <strong>Library</strong>. Within each category, the arrangement is by date<br />

Historical Note: Sarah <strong>Dougherty</strong> was born October 9, 1843, in Donegal County,<br />
Ireland. She moved to Leadville in 1872 and then located on a ranch on the lower <strong>Eagle</strong><br />
River in 1886, raising livestock. She died on September 17, 1917. Her sister, Elizabeth,<br />
married J. P. <strong>Quinlan</strong>, who had daughters (Agnes, Elizabeth and Mary) and a son<br />
(Emmett). Agnes married [James] Lawrence <strong>Mosher</strong>. All three families lived in the<br />
Gypsum-McCoy area. This collection includes correspondence written by and addressed<br />
to members of these families.<br />
