Kokoro cordially invites you to Father’s Day Lunch June 16 (Sunday) 12:00 Noon Filet Mignon Roast Turkey Mashed Potatoes Steamed Vegetables Special Dessert In early summer, most parts of Japan get visited by a rainy season, the so called tsuyu. Literally meaning “plum rain”, tsuyu coincides with the plum ripening season. Caused by a collision of cold and warm air masses, tsuyu is marked by several weeks of bad weather and high humidity. It causes mold, and many cases of food poisoning can occur during this season. Although tsuyu is a gloomy time, the rain is very important for rice cultivation. Also, there are many pretty flowers blooming at this time. One of them is ajisai (hydran-gea) which is a symbol of the rainy season in Japan. Answer on a back page.
