WORSHIP
PRAYER
STORY
Hebrews 11:1-16
• Introduce the story by defining faith from Heb. 11:1-2
o Act out an example of a person who is considering sitting in a chair
The person has never sat in the chair and has never seen anyone else sit in the
chair
The person hopes it will hold him and trusts it will hold him without breaking
When the person sits down, he has demonstrated faith
Once the person has placed faith in the chair by sitting in it, he can share his
testimony of the faithful chair that will not break when you sit in it
• Use Hebrews 11:6 to share what we have faith in
We have to trust in God and His ability to reward us when we diligently seek Him.
We have to place ourselves in Jesus, like the person placed himself in the chair
• Use the flannel-graph to illustrate the lives of the people listed in Heb. 11:4-5, 7-
12
o Share how each of these people put his faith in God and the Savior He was
promising to send
• Referring back to the people just listed, use Heb. 11:13 to show how they
believed in the promised Messiah for salvation and how we do the same
They perceived the promise, were persuaded of the truth of the promise,
embraced and took the promise to be their own, and then they confessed the
promise and lived according to the promise
We understand the promise of salvation and the return of Jesus, are persuaded it
is true, receive Jesus as our Savior, and then confess Him and live as one who is
following Jesus and expecting His return
• Conclude the story by discussing one result of our faith in Jesus spoken of in
Heb. 11:10, 14-16

We are not living as though earth was our home; we live as those who are
seeking our home in heaven
MEMORY VERSE
Hebrews 11:6
“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must
believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
• Practice the verse by doing actions
o “without” – cross and uncross arms and shake head “no”
o “faith”, “believe” – hold hands over heart
o “impossible” – hold hands out with shoulders shrugged as if saying, ‘I don’t know’
o “please” – 2 thumbs up
o “Him”, “God”, “He” – point up
o “comes” – take a step forward
o “He is” – point both pointer fingers up and then turn them into thumbs up
o “rewarder” – give a partner a high five
o “those” – point around
o “diligently seek” – look around with eyes squinted and hand over eye brows
ACTIVITIES
• Color
o Color the picture with the memory verse on it
• Object Lesson
o Reinforce the concept of faith as described in Heb. 11:3
o Remind the children of the Play-doh that was made before class. Ask them what they
used to make the Play-doh (flour, water, salt)
o Give each child a ball of Play-doh
o Call out different objects for the children to create with their own balls of Play-doh
o Ask the children what they used to create those objects. Ask if they could create any of
those things from nothing
o Tell the children the Bible says God spoke and the world was. He spoke and created all
the plants, animals, etc.
o Ask the children if they believe it is true that God spoke and everything was created. If
they do believe it, encourage them that they are demonstrating faith. They did not see it
happen, but they believe it took place
• Application
o Give each child a medal that says, “I can be in God’s hall of faith, too”
o Encourage the children to have unwavering faith in God. Encourage them to believe
that God is, to believe that He will do what He has promised, and to look forward
expectantly to life in heaven
