<strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> <strong>Council</strong> (SCC) Recognizes Global <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> Leaders<br />

<strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> <strong>Council</strong> (www.supply-chain.org) is a global management organization that maintains the supply<br />

chain world’s most widely accepted framework for evaluating and comparing supply chain activities and<br />

performance: the <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> Operations Reference (SCOR ® ) model. The SCC <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> <strong>Excellence</strong> <strong>Awards</strong><br />

encourage the continuous advancement of the supply chain management body of knowledge and the sharing of<br />

that knowledge between organizations.<br />

Worldwide Industry And Market Recognition<br />

<strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> <strong>Council</strong> actively promotes and profiles the superior performance and management practices of the<br />

winning organizations. SCC recognizes executive representatives from the regional winners at SCC events held<br />

award recognizes an organization that operates<br />

significant components of a supply chain and<br />

has demonstrated excellence in the design,<br />

operation, or improvement of that supply<br />

chain. Commercial, nonprofit, and government<br />

organizations are eligible for this award.<br />

Academic Advancement<br />

The <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> Academic <strong>Excellence</strong> award<br />

recognizes an organization that contributes<br />

significant research that advances the supply<br />

chain management body of knowledge. This<br />

award focuses on applied research.<br />

<br />

Technology Advancement<br />

The <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> Technology Advancement<br />

award recognizes the organization that<br />

develops a methodology or product that<br />

enables superior performance in supply<br />

chain operations. Software developers and<br />

consultants are encouraged to participate with<br />

practitioner organizations to provide a realworld<br />

example for evaluating the value of their<br />

advancements.<br />

Special Regional <strong>Awards</strong><br />

Some regions present special supply chain excellence awards specific to that region only. For example, the North<br />

American region presents the U.S. Department of Defense Award for <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> Operational <strong>Excellence</strong>. This award<br />

recognizes an organization within or serving the U.S. Department of Defense that has demonstrated excellence in supply<br />

chain design, operation, or improvement.<br />

All Organizations Are Eligible<br />

The <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> Operational <strong>Excellence</strong> <strong>Awards</strong> are open to all organizations (SCC members and<br />

nonmembers) that have made significant improvements in their supply chain performance. This includes<br />

manufacturers, retailers, distributors, service providers, and third-party logistics providers. We encourage<br />

applications based on specific supply chain improvement initiatives and projects.<br />

The <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> Academic Advancement <strong>Awards</strong> are open to all organizations performing research in<br />

the area of supply chain operations or supply chain management.<br />

The <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> Technology Advancement <strong>Awards</strong> are open to all companies that provide technology<br />

solutions demonstrating significant and proven improvements in supply chain performance for users. These<br />

include hardware vendors, software vendors, systems integrators, and consultants.<br />

Nonprofit academic and research organizations that win the regional awards also receive a $1,000<br />

scholarship donation to support their efforts to educate the next generation of supply chain leaders. The<br />

global award winner receives a $3,000 scholarship.<br />

Each organization may submit up to two entries per location. Consultancies can only enter the Operational<br />

<strong>Excellence</strong> and Technology Advancement award categories in partnership with a client. The client will be<br />

the designated entrant and the consultancy will be listed (on all publications and presentations) as a partner<br />

organization.<br />

All information presented in the detailed application is regarded as confidential. Still, the <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> <strong>Excellence</strong> <strong>Awards</strong> are<br />

designed to promote and accelerate the dissemination of supply chain lessons learned, best practices, and new technology.<br />

The information contained in the executive summaries that are submitted separately by applicants will be used to promote<br />

the award winners and publicize their accomplishments. Do not include any proprietary or confidential information in the<br />

summary.<br />

SCC Global <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> <strong>Excellence</strong> <strong>Awards</strong><br />

The three operational, academic, and technology award winners from each of the four regions compete for the<br />

Global <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> Operational <strong>Excellence</strong> Award in each category. SCC judges then select an overall Global<br />

<strong>Excellence</strong> Award winner from the regional category winners and the special regional award winners. They present<br />

the Global Award for <strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> <strong>Excellence</strong> to the organization that has made the greatest contribution to<br />

advancing the supply chain management body of knowledge or practice within the past year.<br />

The Application Process<br />

Review detailed submission guidelines and download the award applications<br />

for your region on the SCC website: supply-chain.org/enter-awards. The<br />

application material for each region requests basic information that includes:<br />

Business overview<br />

A brief description of the business unit or organization. This overview should<br />

include the organization’s mission and objectives, products and services<br />

offered, markets where it competes, and key operational challenges.<br />

Challenge<br />

The supply chain issue or problem that the organization recognized,<br />

addressed, and solved. This could be a supply chain optimization or<br />

reorganization project, a strategic initiative, a merger, a technology<br />

implementation, a major product launch, or risk mitigation.<br />

Solution<br />

The specific steps and process that supply chain managers followed to<br />

address the challenge.<br />

Outcome<br />

The results in terms of measureable benefits to the organization, to<br />

customers, and to the achievement of the targeted objectives.<br />

Judging Process Overview<br />

A panel of expert members in each region will review all entries. The chairs of the regional judges form the judging<br />

panel for the global awards.<br />

Detailed judging criteria are available on the SCC website (supply-chain.org/enter-awards). In general, the SCC<br />

<strong>Supply</strong> <strong>Chain</strong> <strong>Excellence</strong> Award winners are selected based on:<br />

the nature, breadth, and the complexity of the project undertaken;<br />

the results of the project in terms of supply chain performance improvement and financial benefits; and<br />

the ability to characterize the project and effectively communicate its significance.<br />
