Supply Chain Council (SCC) Recognizes Global Supply Chain Leaders
Supply Chain Council (www.supply-chain.org) is a global management organization that maintains the supply
chain world’s most widely accepted framework for evaluating and comparing supply chain activities and
performance: the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR ® ) model. The SCC Supply Chain Excellence Awards
encourage the continuous advancement of the supply chain management body of knowledge and the sharing of
that knowledge between organizations.
Worldwide Industry And Market Recognition
Supply Chain Council actively promotes and profiles the superior performance and management practices of the
winning organizations. SCC recognizes executive representatives from the regional winners at SCC events held
within each region. The Global Supply Chain Excellence award winners are revealed in a gala ceremony at the
annual SCC Global User Meeting.

The 3 award categories:
Operational Excellence
The Supply Chain Operational Excellence
award recognizes an organization that operates
significant components of a supply chain and
has demonstrated excellence in the design,
operation, or improvement of that supply
chain. Commercial, nonprofit, and government
organizations are eligible for this award.
Academic Advancement
The Supply Chain Academic Excellence award
recognizes an organization that contributes
significant research that advances the supply
chain management body of knowledge. This
award focuses on applied research.
Technology Advancement
The Supply Chain Technology Advancement
award recognizes the organization that
develops a methodology or product that
enables superior performance in supply
chain operations. Software developers and
consultants are encouraged to participate with
practitioner organizations to provide a realworld
example for evaluating the value of their
advancements.

Special Regional Awards
Some regions present special supply chain excellence awards specific to that region only. For example, the North
American region presents the U.S. Department of Defense Award for Supply Chain Operational Excellence. This award
recognizes an organization within or serving the U.S. Department of Defense that has demonstrated excellence in supply
chain design, operation, or improvement.

All Organizations Are Eligible
The Supply Chain Operational Excellence Awards are open to all organizations (SCC members and
nonmembers) that have made significant improvements in their supply chain performance. This includes
manufacturers, retailers, distributors, service providers, and third-party logistics providers. We encourage
applications based on specific supply chain improvement initiatives and projects.
The Supply Chain Academic Advancement Awards are open to all organizations performing research in
the area of supply chain operations or supply chain management.
The Supply Chain Technology Advancement Awards are open to all companies that provide technology
solutions demonstrating significant and proven improvements in supply chain performance for users. These
include hardware vendors, software vendors, systems integrators, and consultants.
Nonprofit academic and research organizations that win the regional awards also receive a $1,000
scholarship donation to support their efforts to educate the next generation of supply chain leaders. The
global award winner receives a $3,000 scholarship.
Each organization may submit up to two entries per location. Consultancies can only enter the Operational
Excellence and Technology Advancement award categories in partnership with a client. The client will be
the designated entrant and the consultancy will be listed (on all publications and presentations) as a partner
organization.

All information presented in the detailed application is regarded as confidential. Still, the Supply Chain Excellence Awards are
designed to promote and accelerate the dissemination of supply chain lessons learned, best practices, and new technology.
The information contained in the executive summaries that are submitted separately by applicants will be used to promote
the award winners and publicize their accomplishments. Do not include any proprietary or confidential information in the
summary.

SCC Global Supply Chain Excellence Awards
The three operational, academic, and technology award winners from each of the four regions compete for the
Global Supply Chain Operational Excellence Award in each category. SCC judges then select an overall Global
Excellence Award winner from the regional category winners and the special regional award winners. They present
the Global Award for Supply Chain Excellence to the organization that has made the greatest contribution to
advancing the supply chain management body of knowledge or practice within the past year.
The Application Process
Review detailed submission guidelines and download the award applications
for your region on the SCC website: supply-chain.org/enter-awards. The
application material for each region requests basic information that includes:
Business overview
A brief description of the business unit or organization. This overview should
include the organization’s mission and objectives, products and services
offered, markets where it competes, and key operational challenges.
Challenge
The supply chain issue or problem that the organization recognized,
addressed, and solved. This could be a supply chain optimization or
reorganization project, a strategic initiative, a merger, a technology
implementation, a major product launch, or risk mitigation.
Solution
The specific steps and process that supply chain managers followed to
address the challenge.
Outcome
The results in terms of measureable benefits to the organization, to
customers, and to the achievement of the targeted objectives.

Judging Process Overview
A panel of expert members in each region will review all entries. The chairs of the regional judges form the judging
panel for the global awards.
Detailed judging criteria are available on the SCC website (supply-chain.org/enter-awards). In general, the SCC
Supply Chain Excellence Award winners are selected based on:
the nature, breadth, and the complexity of the project undertaken;
the results of the project in terms of supply chain performance improvement and financial benefits; and
the ability to characterize the project and effectively communicate its significance.
