® Shiplap DuraPlate Lower Horizontal Panel Splice Labor Requirements Replacing the lower portion of a full 52 ft. side wall requires at least four qualified mechanics working together with the proper tools and equipment, as outlined in this procedure. Hours required for the complete job include reinstalling the scuff liner and adding conspicuity stripes along the base rail. This will take roughly 30 man hours per side. This procedure and associated videotape are based on proven methods for completing this job. NOTE: Due to the many variations in models and sizes, customers can order the correct replacement material to specification by trailer serial number from WNC Parts. ® Shiplap DuraPlate Lower Horizontal Panel Splice Tools and Equipment Required • Air powered circular saw, equipped with a combination 40-tooth carbide blade. • Two pneumatic impact guns, with proper rivet sets and flat chisel tips • Six quick release modified Vise-Grip ® c-clamps (reference Figure 22) • Caulking gun, with Sika #227 or a urethane caulk • Rivet sets, and rivet bucking tools • Two hand-held 3 /8" air drills with several sharp F (0.2570) bits • 8 ft. stepladder • 12-lb. sledge hammer • Wood or plastic 6" long wedges • Measuring tape and poke-yoke exact measuring stick for cut angle placement • Chalk line • 36" crowbar and large plastic mallet • Portable lighting for a safe working environment inside the trailer • Steel angle for saw guide, 52 ft., per attached drawings • Air powered cutoff tool equipped with 3" abrasive wheel blade List of Attachments and Drawings • 01000700–Detailed drawing of all major parts • 010000619 a and b–DuraPlate Horizontal Splice Panel Relationship • GTF00652 and GTF00653–Drawings of Saw Guide Angle • Drawing 01100698–Vertical Seam Attachment Detail • Drawing 01100699–First Horizontal Panel Installation 3
