The Verdelago Resort is located in the
Algarve, at Altura beach (Castro Marim),
15 Km from the Spanish border and 50
Km from the city of Faro. It occupies an
area of about 100 hectares with a prime
seafront of 1.5 Km with direct access to
Praia Verde. The master plan includes
a 5-star Westin hotel, in addition to a
touristic village with 340 housing units,
an 18-hole golf course and all the typical
amenities of large family resort.
Within the resort, PROMONTORIO was
invited to submit a proposal for the design
of the Beach Club. Given the sensitivity
of the site, being right on the beach sand,
the building is entirely made of a white
painted trellised wood structure mounted
on a deck held on woodpiles.
In plan, this light hovering structure
creates a shadow screen for the three
floating volumes on the edges that conceal
the technical areas of the programme
(kitchens, toilets, newsstand, storage and
lifeguard), while in the hearth are located
the terrace and chill-out areas.
