Accessories to
make your
puzzling easier
We’ve had many requests for
information on the latest accessories
we are selling and now we’ve had a
chance to try them all, we’d
like to give you our
thoughts on the benefits
and merits. Let’s start with
the basic Jigboard. If you
prefer to use a board that can be
carried from room to room, used in bed or that sits nicely
on your lap, this fits the bill very well.Light and portable with
a raised edge to ensure your pieces don’t fall off, and a felt
surface that ensures your jigsaw stays in place. It can be
stored easily complete with your partly assembled jigsaw
either under a bed or under
the sofa, ready to bring out
again. There are two sizes 500
piece & 1000 piece. The only
disadvantage was having
somewhere to keep all your
loose pieces. We used the
Jigsafe, consisting of 7 nesting
trays. We could separate the
various colours and still have
one left over to assemble
smaller parts of the ‘puzzle’ before simply sliding them on to the
board. The nesting system kept us tidy taking up no more room
than a normal 1000pc puzzle box.
We then tried out the
Jigframe. No board
needed as the sliding
tray served as a work
surface before being
inserted into the frame.
No glue, no hassle! What
a great idea! You can
change the picture
anytime you like. It’s
very easy and although just in a dark finish really enhances any
room. Available for both 500 and 1000 piece jigsaws
The most impressive of these accessories was the Jigsort
available in 500, 1000, & 1500 pieces. Excellent quality and
beautifully finished. The deluxe zipped holder contains a jigboard
ISSUE 14
It’s a great pleasure to welcome our many new members to
the club.We have certainly increased our numbers somewhat
over the last two month’s and I’d like to extend a big thank you
all for your introductions, letters and ideas. We’re always looking
for new interesting ideas and information to share, so do keep
them coming.
THE OFFICIAL
UK PUZZLE CLUB
and four sort trays, each with their
own cover. Easy to use and even
easier to store. No rough edges and
although certainly not the cheapest
on the market, in our opinion it was
exceptional value for money.
And last but not least – The Jigstore,
which does exactly as the name
suggests. It holds seven completed
puzzles in between cardboard layers
and takes up little room. Can be
stored under the bed or any flat
surface and keeps your intact
puzzles safe until you’re ready
to do them again! Colour copy
your picture and you can
dispose of the box.
And just a few more ideas.
For those members who have purchased the 540pc
puzzleballs®, Ravensburger have produced a
magnetic stand to display them in all their glory.
Having spent so much time on producing this
circular work of art, this is a great way to show it off
to your friends and family.
And finally The Christmas puzzleballs® has proved
to be a great success. Think this is going to be the
‘Christmas stocking filler’ for 2006. Six designs at
£4.99 each.
NEWS &
VIEWS
Best of the Bunch!
I’ve often wondered how our members put together jigsaws
of 4000 pieces and over. Where do you store and sort the
pieces for a start. After many chats with a fellow member, I
was delighted to receive the enclosed photos of his
‘workstation’ and progress on a 6000 piece Clemontoni
Jigsaw called the Magna Carta. He has promised to send me
a photo when it’s finished but is giving me updates….. Jig will
give you updates!! Thanks to Mr. Beniston from Ibstock, who
certainly deserves this month’s prize for best of the bunch.
JIG’S CORNER
QUESTIONS &
INFORMATION & MORE
Hello fellow puzzlers. Jig here! Still no praise – but a
postbag all of my own and a letter I found on someone’s
desk that was obviously not going to be published
despite a bit of pleading. Hopefully she won’t notice it’s
gone and I’m in charge of the proofs so can sneak this
one in. I can tell you she was very ‘made up’ to receive it.
TO ALL PUZZLE CLUB MEMBERS. I feel I must share with
you my delight in being a member of the club. For me, the
best thing about the club is my pleasure in browsing and
having choices in my purchasing of puzzles. Even more
important is Margaret-who is so friendly and chatty, when
I place my monthly order, which is then despatched
promptly and packed securely. So Margaret, my very
special thanks for all your hard work on our behalf-I for
one very much appreciate it. Long may the club continue
to flourish.
Margaret Green - Cardiff
I recently bought the Ravensburger Flokati Butterfly
jigsaw from the Club and was wondering if you could get
another one which is West Highland Terrier in a basket?
This was an exclusive for The Puzzle Club, which was
brought in from Germany. It was very popular and there
are plans to bring in more during 2007.
My wife purchased two puzzles from an RNLI gift shop which
were manufactured by Citadel Puzzles Ltd.Being such excellent
quality, I sent for their catalogue which I received with a list of
retailers in my area. They also informed me that they supply
puzzles direct to customer’s home address and on ordering
two, received them within three days. This is what I call
excellent customer service.
Mr.Wakeford from Bognor Regis.
We have recently spoken to Citadel and will be including
this range in the not too distant future. Will keep you
informed. In the meantime, they can be contacted at
PO Box 20, Petersfield, Hants. GU32 2YJ.
I am delighted to join your club.Being a pensioner gives me time
on my hands,so I started (being a puzzler) some years ago.After a
few years, I received a lovely peacock jigsaw from my Grand
Daughter. It was very hard and beautiful, so I decided to take a
photo and have done so ever since. They are in a special album.
Mrs Mason - Cambridge.
That is a very good idea. It helps you keep track of those
you’ve done too,so less likely to purchase the same one twice!
I have recently cruised on P&O’s Oriana where they have at least
one puzzle out in one venue, sometimes two. I helped to
complete at least six puzzles on a two week cruise. The puzzles
on board are mainly Ravensburger puzzles and most have at
least one piece missing.
Mr D Jackman - Chesterfield.
Perhaps it’s time for The Official Puzzle Club to donate new
jigsaws to the P & O Library. There is nothing more frustrating
than completing a jigsaw which has pieces missing.
Can anyone help Mr Rock locate a company who
produce a selection of 2000piece ‘Recordi Arte
puzzles? We’re stumped but I’m sure one of our great
members can answer that.
Mrs Pollitt from Burnley is trying to find a
discontinued Ravensburger puzzle from their collage
series, called Tiger. She has the bear and the wolf but
would like to get hold of Tiger.
Please give us a call or drop us a line if you can help.
Lots of orders for Wasgij Mystery 3,
Destiny 7 and Graham Thomson
Christmas on Ice. Christmas on Ice
will be available in a couple of
weeks. Destiny & Mystery are not
due until end of December or
beginning of January, but we will
reserve them for you. They are £9.99
each.
Gold Members can now order
Looking forward to hearing from you with all
your questions?
Happy puzzling, Jig.

MEET THE ARTIST
Well not quite! We have chosen to feature ‘Olde Christmas’ this month, as one of our
selected jigsaws. It is a montage of some quite memorable Christmas posters which
adorned the trains, buses, railway stations etc before commercial television and radio
came along. This has been produced by Gibsons using images from The National
Archives and the Illustrated London news and we know this will be a favourite for our
members.
