Adam's descendants did not have the same<br />

standing as transgressors before God that Adam<br />

had, because they had not been individually on<br />

trial in Eden. Just the same, they were sinners,<br />

even if they did not have the Law of Moses to<br />

point out what sin was, so that they could be<br />

charged with sin for violating that Law . But being<br />

sinners from birth, they were all under a reign<br />

of death . "That is why, just as through one man<br />

sin entered into the world and death through sin,<br />

and thus death spread to all men because they had<br />

all sinned-. For until the Law sin was in the<br />

world, but sin is not charged against anyone when<br />

there is no law. Nevertheless, death ruled as king<br />

from Adam down to Moses, even over those who<br />

had not sinned after the likeness of the transgression<br />

by Adam, who bears a resemblance to him<br />

that was to come ." Romans 5 :12-14, NW That<br />

is why, too, a future judgment with life possibilities<br />

for them was within the range of God's<br />
