"Because Messiah was thus innocently "cut<br />

off", being rejected by the Jewish religious leaders<br />

and turned over to Gentile hands to be executed,<br />

the things described in the rest of Daniel<br />

9 :26 came as a judgment from God upon Jerusalem<br />

and the unbelieving Jews . Not, of course, in<br />

the final week of the seventy weeks of years .<br />

After Messiah was cut off, the difficulties of the<br />

Jews with themselves and with the Roman government<br />

continued and increased . History shows<br />

that, thirty-seven years after Messiah the Prince<br />

was cut off as a martyr, the Roman prince and<br />

general Titus, son of Emperor Vespasian, came<br />

with a host of warrior people against rebellious<br />

Jerusalem and destroyed both it and its profaned<br />

temple . <strong>This</strong> took place August 31, A.D . 70 Gregorian<br />

Calendar , about forty-one years after<br />

Messiah was anointed . Truly war to the end and<br />

the "desolations determined" by the Supreme<br />

Judge came upon them .<br />

The final week, or seventieth week, of the<br />

foretold period was unquestionably meant when<br />

the angel Gabriel said, in the last verse of the<br />

prophecy : "And he shall make a firm covenant<br />

with many for one week : and in the midst of the<br />
